Did the Adoratrices have anyone enter the novitiate this year? I always look forward to their pictures de prise d'habit but I didn't see any for 2011

The Adoratrices SHOULD have at least one new novice this year. There was an American woman who kept a blog of her discernment who, as far as I know, entered the Adoratrices about this time last year (give or take a month either way). So, I'd expect that if she persevered, she'd have become a novice by now, or about now.

Funny, I thought we HAD seen the Adoratrices' 2011 picture for novices, because remember looking at a picture and wondering what the woman in the blog looked like, and hoping she was one of the new novices. If someone else can't find the pictures easily, I'll do some nosing around. One thing--the Adoratrices have another name (which escapes me), but aren't they the ones in Italy with a black habit but a gorgeous blue cappa? (The Carmelites probably call the cappa something else.) I'm pretty sure the think the pictures were posted under the other name. (And then there was a dialogue because a poster felt the church where the ceremony took place was "over the top" in terms of being lavish.) Remember that conversation?

I'm rambling but I hope this helps.....

Yeah, they have another name, something with Sovereign and King in it. I'll do some nosing around.

Well that is the English name

In French the institute is referred to as Institut du Christ Roi Souverain Prêtre The sisters are referred to as Adoratrices du Cœur Royal de Jésus-Christ Souverain Prêtre

In English the institute is Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest and the sisters are Sister Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus.

Littleton, CO

San Francisco, CA

I know Buffalo used to years back, and many other Carmels, but not anymore .. not sure why, but they are still wonderful of course. I do know Dallas recently (like within the past 5 years) went back to it.

I'll have to check if the Carmel I love does this.

I have a new question about this. If you are entering a community that does wear wedding dresses, do you get to buy your own or do they provide them at the monastery. Because if we could buy our own, I would totally love to go to Kleinfeld's in NYC to buy mine (as long as it was beautiful and modest of course!)

I really depends on the community,
Though I love Klienfeld's they are a bit pricey.. anything under 3 is considered cheap there...

Getting married to Christ! It's worth it if it's expensive!

do they receive wedding rings too?

I want an "engagement ring" because I am engaged to Jesus and I have now been looking for many months for one but they are all way over my budget.

I have this: http://www.amazon.com/Forgiven-Jewelry-Will-Wait-Ring/dp/B004S7E0KC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322421975&sr=8-1 And for me this means a lot more than waiting for a man, this means having patience and waiting for God. Because I am blessed to have a feel for my vocation at a young age, much will be required of me in the way of patience, so this really is my engagement ring.

What a beautiful sentiment regarding the ring. The I Will Wait engraved on it could be taken many ways by different individuals, perhaps simply as a chastity ring. But you and only you (I presume) would know it's real meaning. And it's a great conversation starter if people ask what does it mean.

Oh, FutureCarmeliteClaire!!!

Wait for the Lord! Such a perfect sentiment for Advent, too!

As I have to wait too I've been looking for a ring. I want something discreet and something that reflects who I am. I love the line from the Bible 'I am my Beloved's and my Beloved's is mine' from Song of Songs. What do you think? Its not cheap but similar rings in the UK which aren't as nice cost as much even with shipping included. I'll probably get it in silver but I might save up for the gold one.
