I thought of them too, but their veil sort of "tucks" under, unlike like the 'untucked' example that Cherie provided. The group that I was thinking of - I only came upon it by accident one day; I don't even think they have a website. It's just a couple sisters from what I could tell. I think the picture was from a newspaper and they were helping with a food bank, or local flooding, or maybe even voting - can't remember.

Feankie Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 It wouldn't surprise me if it was the Fraternite. They had a bakery in a shopping center in Algonquin, IL for a few years. They closed it a year or so ago. None of the sisters spoke very good English, mostly French. Apparently they have a large compound in Marengo, IL and have been in the news a while back. They had huge plans for an 'iffy' expansion that the neighbors strenuously objected to. I don't know the resolution, though.

Do the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters have a different habit they wear outside the cloister? The habit definitely wasn't pink; it looked black. And yes, it was a current religious Order, I'm sure! Particularly since there was an elderly Sister AND a very young Sister, both fully habited.

I've heard that the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters do wear a gray habit outside the enclosure, but I think the other nun doll in the photo is wearing the old Maryknoll habit.

Cherie Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 No, not Visitation. Not those Poor Clares, either; no hair was showing. They definitely had a bandeau across the forehead, and the veil was more "flowy," and definitely had white on the underside of the veil.

Since they were driving a car with an Ohio license plate, I imagine they'd have to be a community with a presence in Ohio? I can't imagine the Sisters would drive a car that wasn't theirs, if only for insurance/liability purposes? And the bumper stickers (and old model of the car) make me think it wasn't a rental.

They're from a local chocolate company called Malley's. You can order a sticker here http://www.malleys.com/chocolate-club and if it's spotted by a Malley's employee you could win $500, or a $25 gift certificate. So those sisters must love good, free chocolate. Does that narrow it down? Probably not at all . . . Okay, but it might be an indication that the sisters are from the Cleveland/Akron area.
