rachael Posted February 6, 2005 Author Posted February 6, 2005
don't fight back - don't give in, but don't yell back - and the talk will get back on track. It's hard, I can't do it . . . without calling a time out . . . when I zing off a cheap shot, I always get zinged in return . . . and then things go down hill fast so don't let it turn into a yelling contest . . . either pretend she spoke in a normal tone of voice and continue to discuss . . . and if she keeps yelling, call a time out . . . if she calms down quickly, go look for some supporting document you think you remember . . . if it will take several hours, maybe there is some paper coming due that you "forgot" you had some additional research to check on
i don't yell most of the time. that's what really ticks my mom off. hard to believe.....i mean yea, i do sometimes scream, but most of the time she's the one doing the yelling. i tell her i don't wanna talk to her if she's going to yell at me like that and i quietly leave the room. then she proceeds to tell me to stop feeling so sorry for myself or to stop being such a big baby. ah. family lovin'
journeyman Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 If that plane leaves the ground and you're not on it, you'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon. And for the rest of your life.
crusader1234 Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Steubie is not the end of the world, Rach.
rachael Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 it's not exactly steubie i'm fighting against here.
JazzforJesus Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 its your choice of school. i know what you mean, my cousins dont have a choice, or rather all of my dad's side have to put up a battle. My uncle is a UT Grad and he made his children go and strongly encourages the rest of us. me and my brother fought and went to other schools

journeyman Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005

Casablanca . . . the airport scene . . . you prefer a different scene? I was informed that you were the most beautiful woman ever to visit Casablanca. That was a gross understatement.
rachael Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 my point exactly. i don't want to go somewhere simply because i'm forced to.

JazzforJesus Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 let me explain... i got to see that movie in film class on film projector
JazzforJesus Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 so the story takes place in Casablanca during WW2 its inpossible to get out cause of partial occupation by nazis the airport scene is where Ricky makes a great sacrifice for the girl to go to america with her husband when he told the girl the plan was that they would run off together. He went behind everybodies back kept it to himself and set it up so he gets the visa with the names, gets the husband to show up and void the police. Its an awesome scene. See back in ww1 ricky and the girl were in france having an affair and then in Casablanca ricky finds out about her being married and she starts to try to get back with him. Ricky Sacrifices happyness with what he wants for the happiness of the girl he loves. He knew she would be happier with her husband. 2 men after 1 girl, one noble sacrifice of the man
rachael Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 so what does that have to do with me wanting to go to steubie?
JazzforJesus Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 you wont like it... your the girl, your parents are ricky, your husband is the other college
rachael Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 they've been very unreasonable from the start. my mom doesn't have that much of a problem with me going anymore, but my dad does. the point is, it's not about money, even thought they say it is. -_- it's about having control.
rachael Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 why can't i stop being sick? i'm going on week 2 of this.
