I wish some Native American apologists would come to phatmass. I can imagine some interesting debates. :hehehe:

I just found a site for this place that trains people to be native american shamans. (rotflol)

It looks pretty fun:

I want to be a shaman too! :weep:

p.s. I'm only trying to poke fun at non-Native Americans who practice a self-help type of pseudo-Native American spirituality.
Actual Native American spirituality is cool.

Oh oh this is where my degree come into place...I think...

1rst there are thousands of different Native American Cultures.

2nd all that is good and true deserves adrmiration.

3rd Catholicism practices preservation of what is true and beautiful in a culture.

4th Most of the time neo-paganism is involved it is artificially forced and usually adds further resentment of those who are interested in preserving their culture.

I recomend "Black Elk Speaks", "Black Elk the Sacred Pipe," "Book of the Hopi" (my wife says that is boring but it has really neat creation myths), and "When the Tree flowers."

BUT most of all if you want to see Catholicism and Native American Spirituality jive

READ "I heard the Owl Call My Name"...

my wife, who if you can not tell is reading this as I type it, says it makes her cry every time...

I've had my share of admin problems with any school that I've ever gone to or applied for. If I can survive two years of carp from LSU I can survive FUS
I am in the process of applying to FUS for the graduate program in Catechetics and Theology.  Should I reconsider my decision?  I want to go to a small Catholic college because I really need to get away from the secular society that is so prevailent at UNL.  Be thankful that you don't go here.  For the past few semesters, I have had to put up with aweful, immoral teaching as well as difficulty getting into good classes.  I am ready for a change and am really considering FUS.  Should I still pursue my decision or look for a different college?

i'd imagine that since u'll be a grad student you won't have to deal w/ the majority of the problems they are referring to (thank God). you'll live off campus so u won't have the dorm issues, and u'll have ur own internet connection wherever you live, and surely the classes won't be as packed.

i put up with my high school <_< i could deal with FUS too.... i simply choose not to.

Grad students do not deal with the same issues at all. They receive prefiential treatment, receive the best professors, they are always the first to sign up for classes, and there are very few grads compared to undergrads. Talking to my grad friends they've never gotten into a class that they have wanted.
