[quote name='hugheyforlife' date='Dec 30 2005, 05:11 PM']honestly... when i get married i think i will be more inclined to chuck the jeans. i want to look feminine and attractive around my husband and thats what skirts give me a lot of the time. not that i dont feel that way without them... it just enhances the feeling when i have them on. and i dont know... theres something very right about the little house on the prairie look. i love it. i always have. and i will dress that way for my husband. it wont be easy... but im willing to make that sacrifice.

I agree Laura! As comfy as pants are, I LOVE wearing skirts and dresses. They make me feel so feminine and pretty. ^_^

And I love the pics of Keira Knightly! Such lovely dresses!!! My friend told me I look like her... Right.

for the most part i have. i have one pair of jeans right now that i wear for doing work outside around my slightly nosey old neighbor and inside when i dont have any skirts clean. sometimes though i resort to my nicer things when i dont have clean laundry. dont worry... ive chucked pants for the most part. ive had this discussion with a few people on phatmass i know... i cut back about... 6 months ago? its a rare sight to see me in jeans or any other pants for that matter ;)

night gowns are heavenly

yeah, that's why I think one of the problems is that decent clothing is hardly available.. I remember taking a lass to a dance and her lamenting being able to find an appropriate dress (and believe me she went to many stores). And I know I'm utterly dissatisfied with men's formal wear selections. The fabrics tend to be so cheap and synthetic and most stuff is made in a sweat shop some place, even the "fancy" designer labels. My favourite suit was handmade in Italy but it cost a gazillion dollars. In the old days I suppose most young women knew the seamstress trade to some extent, and any dumpy old town likely had a tailor.
Who needs the tailor's guild when we have Walmart and Sears? *feels nauseous*

Of course some other problems are cultural and peer pressures to dress a certain way. I know if I dressed the way I should truly like, people would ask me if it was Halloween.

the most beautiful dress i have ever worn i had to have made specifically for me. it cost a FORTUNE and i cant wear it now... believe it or not im too tall for it! but one day i will have another one made... it was a beautiful gown.

and i agree with Laudate_Dominum... a nice or decent dress is hard to find. mostly i have to stick with long skirts and only wear nice gowns when there are special occassions!

I feel uncomfortable in skirts, but I try to look nice without them. Most of the time I feel frumpy (I am not the smallest girl - not fat, but not thin).

I wish I could look good in skirts. I envy women who do. A lot of women in Regnum Christi are skirt wearers, and it looks great.

Also, it just isn't "me". :idontknow: I think I am pretty feminine without them... I am a dress pants kind of girl.

I like Julia Roberts' style. That is very much me! Especially like in My Best Friend's wedding.

cant see the pics.... but.... i think every woman can look good in skirts especially since i think we were designed for clothing like the skirt or the dress. i think you have to find the style that is right for you. almost all of my skirts are tiered skirts because i just dont do straight designs well (unless its an evening gown with an empire waistline). anyone can look good in skirts though - for real! ;)

Those pics of Keira Knightley and others... the necklines are quite low, aren't they? I'm not saying they're wrong or anything, but I wouldn't especially hold that up as a standard of the most modest way of dressing...

in the home i would like a lower and wider neckline. the upper chest, without cleavage, can be a very attractive thing and very appropriate for a couple. outside the home i believe you would be right. some things should not be worn around others.

Yeah, I guess the Pride and Prejudice/Pirates of the Caribbean look is my fave on women, but other styles are cool too.. I just like styles that are clearly masculine and feminine whilst being dignified and accentuating the feminine mystique. I think the mother teresa style is cool too (saris):
