jgirl Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006
^ time well spent then. We should have a Phatmass meetup at the next one. At least, for those of us who aren't already in convents/seminaries! lol.
It could be in St. Louis instead of Northern Illinois! Hardly anybody would have to travel!
Laurentina1975 Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006
I was hoping to make it there... I was wearing my phatmass t-shirt and everything in hopes I would have been there and seen someone... I'm sad I didn't make it, but I ended up spending most of the day with my sister, mom and grandpa...
I was soooo looking for you! I have to say that today was a blessing, most certainly Divine Providence, the Sisters are such beautiful people. I arrived at the closing of The Here I am Lord Conference and was very priviledged to take Sr. Mary Michael and Sr. Mary Ana downtown to Chicago where we visited St. Peter's in the Loop, which is taken care of by the Franciscan Friars. Upon leaving there, the Sisters and I went to Holy Name Cathedral and arrived right in time to celebrate 5:15 p.m. mass. Being there with the Sisters and hearing the readings was a special moment, something I will never forget. There is something JOYOUS about having religious come to your hometown and being able to share with them something that is unfamiliar and wonderful at the same time! We also stopped at Bennigans for some chow! Here is yet another picture of Sr. Mary Ana (Regional Superior of The Panhandle Franciscans), myself and Sr. Mary Michael! May God bless them and all of us abundantly! Hope to see you all at the IRL conference in Mundelien! Laurentina1975 Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 I forgot to add that latest picture, the other pics were from Saturday. This new one was from Sunday when I took the Sisters to the city! SOOOO FUN!
Laurentina1975 Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 Look at page one, the bottom.

Laurentina1975 Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Unfortunately, I did not want to make the Sisters feel like movie stars. I only took a few. It was a blessing just to spend the day with them. I think I learned more in that day long experience (for my discernment) than ever!

I think that I am inching closer to my YES to God and am closer to giving Him my All. To me, they seem a lot like Alton...but their habits are soooooooooo awesome! Not that Altons are not, but you know...yeah..

They are kind of tailored Actually they have a seamstress who isn't a Sister who makes their habits and postulant jumpers.
Laurentina1975 Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Sr. Mary Michael may have more photos to post....??.... hmnnnn...???...
Piccoli Fiori JMJ Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I heard from my YM I was missed at the retreat... I was really looking forward to going to... Looks like it was absolutely wonderful
Laurentina1975 Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 Sr. Mary Michael sent me some more pics, but I am waiting to see if it is ok that I post them. We missed you! I would have helped you get there if you needed a ride or something. Are you going to be able to attend the IRL? Let me know...Lauren
Piccoli Fiori JMJ Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 No, it wasn't a matter of needing a ride... my grandpa is in the hospital and has been getting worse for nearly a week now. I was with him or watching my sister for my mom while she was there and I also had to pick up my mom so she could take a shower and change clothes. I don't know about IRL and I don't think I would be able to go because of the RE classes I teach. Maybe in the future... we shall see

The IRL conference is the best of the best vocation fairs. Not only is it on the 5 billion acres of one of the most beautiful seminaries, but ALL the orthodox communities are there. You tend to find all the habited Sisters/Nuns there. It's sponsored by the institute on religious life. Google the name and check out the website, you will see. See if you have a class, it is Saturday April 22, 2006. Is there anyway you could go? I mean it will be sooo fun. Well, let me know later. In the meantime I will pray for you and your grandpa! May God bless you abundantly! Lauren

I go to many of these things to chat with the religious and see what makes them 'tick.' Thanks for your prayers!
