Looking back I see what you mean, but when I first read it it seemed solipsistic (As though you were happy there were these people with these conditions for you to help, because you got some sort of gratification out of interacting with them). At the time I must have been distracted or something and for whatever didn't factor in how inconsistent the interpretation I was taking of your words were with your general character. My fault.
