I don't vote based on the private matter of one's religious preferances.
That wasn't the question. The question was simply whether or not you would vote for such a person. You don't need to base your vote on a matter of religious preference, just on the information provided. Please answer.

I'm withdrawing my question on account of the fact that Catholicinsd has been suspended for a 30 day period. Just wanted everyone to know that so they wouldn't think he chickened out or anything.

Anyway, the point of my question was that we can't vote for people who have obvious moral flaws just because they support a few relatively minor things we believe in. Abandonment of religious principles is just one aspect of moral flaw, but there are many others; in the example I gave, there was also outward support of prostitution and pornography, despite many good things. A man who says debauchery or murder of the unborn is okay has no scruples, no moral compass, and is therefore by default a poor leader, not because he cannot lead, but because he will ultimately lead in the wrong direction.

To make the point more clear, the person I described in my question...was the Marquis de Sade...after whom we get the word "sadism;" he was a sodomite, a pedophile, and a certified madman, but he helped shape the politics surrounding the French Revolution, and it was on account of his cries from inside the Bastille that the revolutionaries mobbed against the overwhelming defenses [sarcasm]of the four armed-guards protecting that prison[/sarcasm] in order to release from bondage a man who preferred it, and enjoyed being a slave to sin and wicked passions. My point is that despite good claims and apparently good plans, a politician proves himself worthless for the cause of good when he abandons his moral compass.

God bless,

Micah

I going to write Kimbo Slice on the ballot when I go to vote. Well, I'm still trying to decide between Kimbo and Brent Spiner.

Brent Spiner. Definitely. :photo:

ETA: and maybe Michael Dorn as running mate. He can hold Spot during debates.

I'm really starting the lean in that direction but I keep thinking of how tripped out it would be if Kimbo was in office... Imagine how bad the Al-Qaeda would be peeing their pants if that dude was in their face. Of course Spiner is simply a genius... Tough call..

The next big bestseller.
Obama's still evil, American or not.
This is technically incorrect. Many of the policies that Obama puts forth (here, I am speaking specifically about his anti-life policies and about nothing else) do perpetuate evil. However, Obama's immoral policies do not make him an "evil" man. To be sure, Obama actually intends for these policies to do good; but despite his best intentions, he is sorely misinformed. I could honestly say that Obama desires to change this country for the better, and I would say that that makes him a very good man. Again, however, he's just doing it all wrong out of a combination of stubbornness and blind ignorance of the rationale that we hold.

I admire Obama for his idealism; you have to admit that it's very refreshing. Now, if only we could get someone who had a similar level of passion, youthful vigor, and romantic idealism who didn't support policies contrary to the Catholic faith ...

Exactly what polices of his would you like to see in a pro-life candidate? Obama has nothing more than charisma, ans that's it. People hear the words "change" and "hope", and make it mean whatever they want it to mean. He really has no plan for America at all. All he's after is more power, and that is what makes him a truly evil man if nothing else.

Think about it. Exactly why do you like Barrack Obama?

Madame Vengier

Everyone focuses on the abortion issues (which is extremely important) but that's not all there is to Obama's ills. He has zero demonstrable leadership skills, is incredibly inexperienced in politics (being only a senator for a short period of time), and his willingness to pander to groups that have a vocal anti-American agenda (racists and terrorists) is something we should be very, very concerned about. His relationships with these groups are serious. This is not fear-mongering. This is not being melodramatic. This is not over-reaching. This is not making a mountain out of a mole hill. This is not taking something out of context. This is an area of real and present concern for America...and our allies.
