Death Penalty

Mrs. Bro. Adam
I think someone capable of putting Jesus to death has a 'right to life' as well, and I'm talking about you and me Bro Adam.
I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet, but I am going to anyways.

We human beings have no rights. We gave them up the moment we sinned. What we've been given are priveleges, and we don't even deserve them.

We think that we have the right to life, but we don't. The only person that has a right to anything is our Creator God, our Father and our Savior.

The only people who have rights are those whom have never messed up, who are perfect. They have earned their rights.

What are we? We are creations of our Creator, who just happen to have been given free choice, free will, not rights. We are given priveleges, priveleges which can be taken away.

So....do you or I have a right to life? No, but we do have the privelege of life.
Ah yes, at the expense of the taxpayers.
Actually, technically, it costs more money to kill someone than to keep them for life in prison.

And after the monetary costs, indeed, the death penalty costs someone's life.

It is interesting to ponder how many of the people on death row are innocent...

Again, yes, I know the Church doesn't condemn the DP. But I honestly believe that nowadays there are hardley any instances where the DP would fall under the umbrella of "okay with the Church".

The fact is that the edges of the umbrella (by the new standard) are relative to place and time. Ergo, the standard is relative, which is not much of a standard at all. It is called prudential judgement and as such, there is room for disagreement within Catholic circles.
I changed my opinion folks.  I now believe the death penalty to be inhumane.  I say we throw these people in prison to be sodomized by Bubba for 30 years.  Now that is humane, right.  I personally think all child molesters and child muderers should be released into the general prison population.  That is called "indirect capital punishment".  Saves the state and taxpayers some money.
You can't serve two masters, you hate one or love the other. Are you saying you are concerned more about money than the human soul?

God Bless
Jason

Those for the death penalty can't call themselves pro-life!

We as humans have no right to take a life. That is the job of God and God only. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies. He does not teach an eye for an eye.

We do have a right, however, to punish them accordingly for their crime. Personally, I think those who take lives should be put in solitary confinement with nothing to read but a Bible, and no one to talk to but a priest! Too harsh? I don't think do. We'd have a lot less killing going on, and a lot more Chrisians!

God bless. :)
