I bought cherries yesterday so I could try my hand at cherry pie tonight...yummmm
Mmmm ... I  cherry pie.

I used to make desserts for an art event that drew about 600 people, so I would make hundreds of tiny tarts using pie dough molded in mini muffin tins. I still make them every so often for guests and one of my favorite fillings is cherry pie filling with a splash of almond flavor. The almond and cherry together are really fabulous.

That sounds soooo good. People have got to stop talking about desserts. Can't we talk about broccoli or something instead? :saint:

I know! I am sitting here weighing how tired I am and how much I don't need to gain weight with how much I want mini cherry pies. Luckily the tired/no weight gain side is winning.

Actually broccoli is one of my favorite veggies. It's so pretty when it's steamed just right, and with just a touch of butter and salt it is delicious. Also I love asparagus that is grown in a garden. My mom's taste almost like sweet corn.

I'm debating adding cherry pie filling and almond extract to my grocery list. lol

I love broccoli and asparagus (my in laws grow a couple varieties, I love being up there in the spring when it's in season ). I like to sprinkle a little parmesan and bacon bits on my broccoli when I have it steamed (in addition to butter). And butter and lemon juice on asparagus. Mmmmm.

I actually make my own cherry pie filling ... I use frozen cherries, cornstarch, and sugar and a little water. For the mini tarts I put it in the food processor before cooking. It would probably also work with the canned variety. You can try it and let me know. ;)

And I love butter and lemon juice on asparagus. I think maybe sometimes I use a little dill too. Dill is one of my favorite herbs. It is phenomenal on salmon, and I use it in tuna salad, too. Albacore tuna, mayo, dill.
