mysisterisalittlesister Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012
That reminds me of a postulant we have. I had not seen her with her old glasses, but when she was surfing somewhere, they fell off her and she had to get new ones. The new ones were had thick rims and had flowers, sparkles, and bumblebees on the sides! She was allowed to wear them for some time, but then she had to get other more regular ones. She said she misses her old ones though.
don't forget, they were gold bumblebees and butterflies studded with rhinestones!
AveMariaPurissima Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 These are great...although I was too lazy to read through all 27 pages...Maybe sometime... -When in conversation you refer simply to "the Sisters" and assume that your listener will immediately know what community you're talking about. -When you realize that saying "my Sisters," and "my Community" just sounds more natural. (then you realize that you've been doing that for months and hadn't noticed. ) -When you look at the young cashiers at the grocery store and think, "She'd make a cute postulant somewhere."

EmilyAnn Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 When you see words like "mum" you read it as "nun". Very confusing when I'm trying to ring my mum! I was talking to someone about Benedictine Congregations and realised I was referring to my congregation and my community.
Quaesivi Vultuum Tuum Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 When a poor person that i visited says me: you lack your vocation, you must become a nun! When accidently one of the sister of my community ask me: sister P... Can you? And after everybody laught, she says, not sister, but it sad! When at your work everybody says: not vulgar languages in front of Quasivi, it's'a sin! Quasivi, dou you think that i must confess? When you work and a morning your director look you and says: if you take a veil you look like a nun!
Spem in alium Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) So many I connected to! I haven't yet properly discerned a call to religious life, but I think I'm getting there...potentially Because: In your purse you have a Rosary and third-class relics. You pray the Rosary on the train. Scripture reading makes you cry tears of joy. You order 25 Brown Scapulars and don't think it's excessive. You wear a veil or headscarf around the house and it just feels natural. Your siblings call you "nun" to tease you, but it actually fills you with joy. You wear all brown to uni, one of your friends jokingly asks you if you're becoming Franciscan and you quietly think "...Carmelite". People accuse you of "needing" to go to Mass every day - when you know it's actually because you WANT to. You feel so joyful walking past or entering a church. Seeing the Blessed Sacrament (even in photos) fills you with love. You tell one of your friends about the thoughts you've had on entering religious life, and they get excited about how "perfect" it is. EDIT: spelling mistakes Edited May 6, 2012 by Spem in alium
LaPetiteSoeur Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 Your grandmother's friend tells your grandmother that "She's got a calling, I'm convinced," even when that friend hasn't stepped into a church in decades. Everybody knows, even before you tell them Even your nonCatholic friends are totally razzle dazzle with it, because they can't picture you as anything else!

(that pretty much describes my purse!)

TheresaThoma Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 When you use going on a Rosary walk or praying Vespers with the OP brothers as incentives to finish papers. (I will note I got those papers done in record time too!)
Strictlyinkblot Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I have the 'Benedictine Daily Prayer: A Short Breviary' for saying the Office, two rosaries, a 2nd class Padre Pio relic and various prayer pamplets. And this is my 1000th post. Which means I'm either destined to become a nun or I have way too much time on my hands and I should be praying/exercising/talking to friends more.

Annie12 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Oh! I have some!

When you make your desk into a makeshift alter
when you are involved with everything at church
When your friends like to draw fashion and nature while you like to draw Christ and Mary.
When you subconsciously think of yourself as a nun even though you are still discerning. (this is basically what this thread boils down to!)
