I can see why VII did away with it for the most part however.... it put more emphasis on the taking of the habit than on the vows. For me, (when I was a Sister) the habit was my wedding gown, ... and I wore it every day. My black veil meant more than the rest. I'm with Sr. Mary Catharine, O.P. on the crown of flowers. That is a nice touch. I also love the symbolism of the Franciscans (don't kill me!) who take a crown of thorns on the occasion of solemn profession. The [b]absolute[/b] best however is receiving a profession crucifix. After all - the life is [b]so joyful[/b] one has to remind oneself of the cross every now and then. I have a little niece but sadly I've never met her. My brother sends my photos though and she is just the cutest kid ever. Doesn't take after my brother at all.
