I always liked the idea of the bridal gown... I can see why VII did away with it for the most part however.... it put more emphasis on the taking of the habit than on the vows. For me, (when I was a Sister) the habit was my wedding gown, ... and I wore it every day. My black veil meant more than the rest.

I'm with Sr. Mary Catharine, O.P. on the crown of flowers. That is a nice touch. I also love the symbolism of the Franciscans (don't kill me!) who take a crown of thorns on the occasion of solemn profession. The [b]absolute[/b] best however is receiving a profession crucifix. After all - the life is [b]so joyful[/b] one has to remind oneself of the cross every now and then.

I'm an aunt too! I have a little niece but sadly I've never met her. My brother sends my photos though and she is just the cutest kid ever. Doesn't take after my brother at all. Luckily for her, she takes after her mother and she is much prettier than my brother.
