I went shopping for underwear once with a nun. She drug me to Victoria's Secret. She made a complete rear-end of herself.

I know you might not have enough money for these, but if you happen to find them in a thrift store, BUY THEM. They are amazing and they last a very long time, not too mention they are super warm.

Get Chore ones if you are into support, and get Artic Sport if you want really toasty toes.

OK what about these?

That sounds like a good deal.

They don't have it in my size at the muck boot outlet (which was 25 bucks) but I think STP has them on sale for 39 (I will ask my sister to make them my birthday present) :)

I think I'm almost done when it comes to shoes. I now only have to worry about activity shoes (tennis shoes I guess) I am checking out the sales to see what bargains there are. oooooh!!!! I am so excited! the shoes where the things I was the most worried about.

Question.

I am supposed to get sandals that are Birkenstock or Birkenstock-like. Any suggestions? The Birkies that I see are waaaaay out of my league. So far I'm doing well with my $250 limit. Getting the Birkies would blow them out of the water though (even if they were on sale)

Ideas:

Betula sandals are very much like Birkenstocks, at about half-price (still about $35 though, which is higher than I'd want to pay).

Try the men's shoe selection. They should have off-brand slides that are like birkenstocks. Men's shoes are about 1 1/2 sizes bigger than womens (i.e. a womens 8 1/2 would be comparable to a mens 7), so if you have small feet, that might not work.

I'll continue to look for you!

Have you thought about doing a bridal shower where everyone brings a gift from your entrance registry? A lot of girls have done this and it really helps. It's also a nice way to celebrate with family and friends.

@the171:
It would be a wonderful way for friends and family to support the entrant - with small gifts or with their presence at a gathering. I have heard of an "engagement party" for an aspiring nun, but I have never heard of a "bridal shower." Great idea!

I hate paying a bunch of money for shoes. Some manufacturers act like they are gold or something. I found a few links for you to look at. These sandals look like Birkenstocks and are made for comfort:

I have thought about that and I am still struggling with the "don't burden folks voice in my head" I am working very hard this Lent to get over this. The Lord has been more than patient with me as I work to get out of my shell more and more and "man up" when it comes to asking for help. I tend to worry about whether or not the person can afford to help and all of that jazz instead of just trusting the Lord. One of my girlfriends asked for the list and I think I might share it with her and let her know what I was able to get.

I believe the betula sandals which are also by Birkenstock are way way way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more affordable (for the love of all that is Holy I do not know why there is such a big price difference but oh well)

I will keep looking and keep you guys updated.
