Either right or wrong, just or unjust, the fact is you can't force young men to feel at ease fighting side-by-side with an homosexual.

My country has long ago (since 1992) dispensed with a DADT policy. Nothing's happened. So too the case with many, many other countries. What makes American men so different?

Because your have no rational or objectively demonstrable basis for your sexual ethics. Maybe they're metaphysically right. But they aren't ethical ideas like not stealing or killing civilians. There is no rational basis for prohibiting homosexuality.
The rational basis is try as they might, a homosexual sexual act will never conceive. Moral ethics are based on ideals, and put into practice as practically as possible. The uncomfortable problem is balancing tolerance without promoting it or evaluating it as an equal alternative to the ideal.

There are a precious few things that cause me to laugh harder than whenever Socrates gets pulled into a discussion on homosexuality. It's like a moth to a flame, a bee to honey, a fat kid to a piece of devil's food cake! I mean, could there be anything more ironic--and hilarious-- than a man having a stick up his butt about gayness?

You know, they say that we rebel hardest against the things that we secretly hate about ourselves. And if the litany of evidence, strewn across hundreds of threads pertaining to various homosexual topics over the years and years that Socrates has been an active participant on Phatmass are to be believed, it would seem that Good Ole Soc might have some 'splainin' to do.

Yes, ad hominems, always the last resort of the intellectually bankrupt.

Thanks for proving my point so well.

Given that you've posted in this thread and similar ones more than I have, and started posting much sooner, perhaps, while we're playing the ad hominem game, we should question why you, as an allegedly "straight" dude, feel so compelled to spend so much of your own valuable time on these boards defending homosexual sodomy against Catholic moral teaching. Maybe you're the one who's got some 'splainin' to do.

As this is (in theory, at least) a message board devoted to defending the teachings of the Catholic faith, as a Catholic I will defend the Church's moral teachings against those, especially those self-proclaimed "Catholics," who attack those teachings. I've been even more adamant about defending the Church's teachings regarding abortion against those who would similarly attack or try to work around those teachings (though nowadays there are fewer such threads than those concerning homosexuality). Obviously, this proves me a closet abortionist.

In addition, using your own impeccable methodology, my posting record on this site clearly shows me to also be a closet liberal Democrat Obama-supporter and a closet socialist, as well as a closet Muslim to boot.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to get to the gay disco, where I'll read my Koran and hand out "Re-elect Obama" flyers.

I am just speculating. I don't have the answer. You saying your country does? What country is this? And is it comparable to the US's military?

lol Soc. Would it absolutely KILL you to not attack the Catholicity of other forum members in nearly every post you make? Just because someone disagrees with your conclusions and/or thinks u r crazy doesn't mean they are less-Catholic than you, nor does it mean they are pc-friendly/liberal. It seems a bit arrogant to paint oneself as a paragon for everything that is right and good.

but hey, why listen to a hippie-dippie bleeding-heart like me?
Where have I proclaimed myself a paragon for everything that is right and good? Honestly, I don't consider myself much of a paragon of anything. I'm as big, or bigger, a sinner than anyone else on here. However, since this is supposedly a Catholic message board, I do try to do my best to represent Catholic moral teachings when they are debated on here. It's about promoting Catholic moral truth, rather than my own personal virtue.

When people attack, or spread confusion about, clear Catholic moral teachings, such as the immorality of homosexual activity (which seems to be the most popular Church teaching to attack these days), the only Catholic option is to stand up for what the Church teaches. Any "Catholic" who opposes Catholic morality is in fact a CINO.

Doubtless, most of the folks who disagree with Catholic moral teaching are nice, swell, decent hardworking people who love puppy dogs, babies, and long walks on the beach at sunset. However, they are not truly Catholic, which implies giving one's consent to the body of Church teachings on faith and morals. That's not an insult, but simple intellectual honesty.

And yes, I do believe the current widespread acceptance of homosexuality today is indeed rooted in political correctness. There was not this widespread support for "gay rights" among "Catholics" and "Christians" before it became the big pc fad.
