I loved The Robe as well.   The movie wasn't as good as the book (never are!) but they did a great job on it.

Nicholas and Alexandra.... it was well done, but the biography by Robert Massie was incredible.... you understand ore of why he loved the subject so much when you learn that Robert Massie's son was born with hemophilia.... absolutely fascinating study of Rasputin and you end up with a lot more empathy for Nicholas and Alexandra after watching or reading this.

On similar lines... haven't seen it for a while, but a VERY favorite movie is Dr. Zhivago with Omar Sharif and Julie Christie.  Absolutely first rate....

Really want to see Nicholas and Alexandra now. I'm fairly interested in Russian history.

The Gunfighter with Gregory Peck. Not all the way through yet, but loving it loads.

If you like Russian History.... you WANT TO SEE Dr. Zhivago.  You will have an eye-witness level exposure to the Russian Revolution.... and to a magnificent love story!!!!!!   AND it is one of the most beautiful films ever made!!!!!

Here's a preview to whet your appetite.   This will give you an idea of the movie, but stay away from the Trailer because somebody put a BUNCH of spoilers into it....

Yes, there are some adult themes, but nothing a high school or close-to-high school aged person shouldn't be able to handle.  And there is some violence.... but it was made in 1965, so nothing like what would even be shown on broadcast TV today....

If you watch it, would LOOOOVE to discuss this movie!!!!!

Thank you! I would love to watch this film (and discuss it!) as I've heard lots about it! I'll try and see if I can get it somehow. :)

DemonSlayer

Godzilla. Pretty damn good, definitely better than the previous US remake. I also really liked the director's previous film, Monsters, which featured very little action too.

Not A Mallard

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (for the third time)

It made me realize how disturbing it is that we flock to see these movies where people [pretend to] beat each other up, shoot each other, stab each other, hit each other with cars, etc.  And it's all bloodless, so we can view it as "entertainment."

Well.. did you like it, NAMallard?   It is an incredible epic, and beautifully filmed; hard to believe it is from 1939!

Not A Mallard

It was my first time watching it.  It's incredible!  It really is hard to believe that it was released 75 years ago.

Plus, I understand this skit more:
