Apotheoun Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) I did not know that that show (Fantasty Journey) existed until just now. You can actually watch the pilot movie on youtube. I used to watch the show every Thursday night on NBC as a kid. It only lasted a few months before it got cancelled, but for some reason I liked it. It was probably simply that I was starved for sci fi programming. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOLdPcjGVIc Edited April 25, 2013 by Apotheoun
AnneLine Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 The only show that was listed in the promo that had any success was Centennial, but it was planned as a 12 part miniseries, and so it could not rescue NBC's dismal schedule. I loved Michener's book, Centennial, but I wasn't as impressed with the miniseries when it came out. BUT I found it on youtube a whie back, and it really is EXCELELNT, and it is fun watching the cameo roles by some of the then-big names.. and future big names.... Of course, one has to be open to a LONG story.... literally beginning with the rocks, lands, native peoples, etc.... I especially liked this episode, with the introduction of a character with his roots in Amish country:

Papist Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 You never know when you will buy a 15 year old PC.
homeschoolmom Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 You never know when you will buy a 15 year old PC. No. You never know when you will have a big party and run out of coasters. :|
Papist Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 No. You never know when you will have a big party and run out of coasters. :| And the coasters would be the hot topic.
Starets Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I liked Hogan's heroes. Did you know that John Bannor, who played "shultzie" and the actor who played LeBeau were concentration camp survivors? Werner Klemperer was jewish and only agreed to take the part if all of "klink's" schemes failed.

Apotheoun Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 My favorite scene in the Hogan's Heroes video I posted is the second one. With the following exchange: Klink: Those two men will be released over my dead body. Hogan: It's a deal. I just love the way that Hogan says, "It's a deal."
Papist Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 I never cared for Hogan's Heroes. Might be b/c Star Trek was on at the same time.
homeschoolmom Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I never watched much of HH either until much later because I was a toddler when it went off the air. I never got (until much later) that it was about the Allies getting the better of the Nazis. I always thought of it as a "boy show." My brother liked to do imitations from it, though. But I never knew what the heck he was talking about.

I have vague memories of watching the last couple of years of Hogan's Heroes on the CBS network, but I saw most of the episodes when it went into local rerun syndication. I loved Schultz. He was my favorite character on the show.
