graciandelamadrededios Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 I wish that there will be a revival of a Cholet-like Carmel......
Chiquitunga Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Madre LucÃa del Niño Jesús y de la Santa Faz she entered in Chile, and this was the first picture that made me realize that actually the way they had the Habits with the super big toques in the Teresa de Los Andes movie was actually 100% accurate to how they used to be in Chile at that time. I always thought the movie had that wrong. it reminded me also of this picture of St. Teresa of Los Andes with a big toque like that as well, and I have seen a picture of another Novice in the Los Andes Carmel in a picture book I have from her life with a huge toque like that too also the scapulars don't have much horizontal space between the two parts in the movie, and that is how her Habit is as well. I cannot find a close up picture of her Habit online, but I have it in that book. just thought I'd post this :like: a picture from her shrine in Los Andes, not of her, but another nun in the Los Andes monastery, with the habit and toque exactly like this

The Nuns in Los Andes no longer wears the very long, large toque. They still wear the Spanish toque - longer but not as long or as the ones on the photo above.

Poverelli Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Chiquitunga: I am sorry to post this request in this thread, but I do not seem to have PM privileges, being a new member. Could you PM or somehow contact me? I am currently very interested in discerning with the Dallas Carmelites, and saw that you have a friend there and much information about the community. Thank you! :)

Mother Therese of Harissa Carmel was one of the prominent figures in the development of the 1990 text. They were founded from a Spanish Carmel, right? Thank you! :) Praised be Jesus Christ! Hi! I just tried sending a PM but it says I can't. I believe you have to post 10 times before it's possible. That's wonderful you're thinking of them and discerning Carmel. I will keep you in prayer for now. God bless!
Chiquitunga Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Hi Chiqui, Thanks for the link. Mother Therese of Harissa Carmel was one of the prominent figures in the development of the 1990 text. They were founded from a Spanish Carmel, right? Gracian Yes :like: For a while I thought it was one of the Barcelona ones, but I was wrong. It was Calatayud, which I have seen from a few sources like here, http://www.chretiensdorient.com/article-liban-le-carmel-melkite-de-la-theotokos-marie-mere-de-dieu-a-harissa-113263699.html I'm not sure what became of the Calatayud Carmel though, as I don't see their address listed anywhere anymore. But as for Harissa, they received a lot of vocations, as I'm sure you saw in my old thread there, http://www.phatmass....harissa-carmel/ It was really great to be able to see Mother Therese in that video! I also loved what the Orthodox monk said at the end :saint:

Please do check your yahoo mail and please let me know if you receive them. Wow, Calatayud Carmel. I have never heard of this Carmel though, I heard of a Poor Clare Monastery in Calatayud. A Pope has a sister and I think an aunt there. I think it was the Pope who gave permission to St. Colette to reform the Poor Clare Order. Well, the monastery might have been transferred to another city or municipality, it usually happens when the original convent and its surrounding becomes noisy and busy and its no longer conducive to contemplative life. Their toques are quite larger than the usual Spanish Toque.

Their toques are quite larger than the usual Spanish Toque. Hey Gracian! Sorry I didn't take the time to explain it in the email, but the interesting thing about this Carmel that I wanted to share is that they are actually a foundation from Peru to Huelva, Spain. I haven't searched yet to try to find what Carmel in Peru did this, but I thought that was pretty amazing. And yeah, I only just heard of Mother Maria Isabel there, http://madremariaisabel.es/ She was in the Carmel in Elche, Spain. I've seen another site calling her a Servant of God. It's great to have more Carmelite possible saints-to-be in the running, like Mother Maria Josefa as well, http://www.madremariajosefa.es/ Also, I recently heard that the miracle for Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified's canonization has been approved! This was in a newsletter from the OCD postulator general, although I can't find a link for this just now.
vee Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 A general question to anyone on this thread . Why are the sisters in teh above pic in the public chapel and not their choir? Are they not fully cloistered yet as in moving to a new foundation or...? It reminds me of seeing pics, videos of the current set up of St Therese's Carmel where they are not in their own choir but in first few rows of the public chapel. I dont understand why that is or how that works that they could not be cloistered for Mass?

It reminds me of seeing pics, videos of the current set up of St Therese's Carmel where they are not in their own choir but in first few rows of the public chapel. I dont understand why that is or how that works that they could not be cloistered for Mass? The laws of enclosure are suspended during foundation. Hence, the Nuns can attend Mass in the parish church and can occupy the front pews. It will be reinstated once the requirements for canonical enclosure are met such as walls, grilles, etc. As for Lisieux Carmel, I have not seen their video and I am not familiar with their set-up.
