AnneLine Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Hello, everyone. Well... not as much reading this summer, but other things have been going on in our world, I am sure. I've added an 'honorable mention' category as several people have pulled out away from the 'herd' and have a good chance of getting into the top 3 spots... if they keep on going! Several of you included enough info about your book that I was able to locate the page count on Amazon. For those who pray the Liturgy of the Hours (LOTH) - last year we offered a 550 page "LOTH CREDIT" for those who pray Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and Office of Readings. If you want to claim it, just ask for it; you can also 'pro-rate it' - 2/3 if you only pray MP & EP, for example) I don't know if anyone is in school this summer, but we did have a school reading credit last year as well -- let me know if you want to claim that. I know I am close to completing some books... and I bet some of the rest of us are as well.... so... keep on going! cartermia Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Leonardo's Shadow -- 390 The Lost Songs -- 251 13 Reasons Why -- 288 In the Stone Circle -- 225 Spring Pearl (The Last Flower) -- 205 Frost Wolf -- 238 I will be at camp next week so I will give you guys some time to catch up. But since it is a Christian camp I might just start reading the Bible while I am there... AL I do like historical fiction, mainly anything with history so I might have to try out those authors.
Ancilla Domini Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) The Ultimate Sherlock Holmes Collection - 1,675 pages (I was 175 pages off in my guesstimate. :)) Edited July 20, 2014 by Ancilla Domini
AnneLine Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014  :hehe2: :notworthy: :wall: I can't keep up with you two! Well, the rest of you have the pace well-set for you! I'm feeling kind of rotten, so I'm planning to go to bed and finish off a few books in progress and get some sleep.....
AnneLine Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 OK... FINALLY finished some books (one advantage to being sick....) :stars: :x :bible: and made headway in some others! So.... Finished these.... Star Trek: Classic Episodes, Vol. 1, 25th anniversary edition, James Blish, ed. 656 pages I enjoyed reading them, but it is a little dated now... funny how we see sexism more now 25 years later..... but the basic stories are stilll beautiful and thoughtful.... still think The City at the Edge of Forever is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read.... Poor Banished Children: A Novel by Fiorella de Maria 299 pages This was the gift of a friend, and I have been reading it bits at a time over a few months. Solid book, but a little graphic in places for some people, I'm sure.... but still very powerful Catholic themes. Still working on the Diary of a Hunted Priest. Ironically is set in the same time period as Poor Banished Children... and they 'read well' together..... gimme a few more days to finish that one.... And I have read Banner in the Sky, Tigger60, and would like to read it again, so it is on my list! How is everyone else doing?????
maximillion Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Me read books. Uglies. 368p Pretties 340p Specials 388p all by Scot Westfeld.
Ancilla Domini Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Do comic books count? :P (A friend of ours just brought over the entire Calvin and Hobbes collection. I figure, you know, if I'm reading it anyway, it might as well count on here. :hehe2:)
AnneLine Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Hi, Ancilla, Welll.... I guess if it is a multi-page book of comics, sure. If it is a 3 page book... not so much! However.... hmmm... we've counted kids books. SO I guess we can do comics. Enjoy!
Ancilla Domini Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Yay! :cheer: Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat – 176 pages Something Under the Bed is Drooling – 128 pages The Prehistory of the Far Side – 288 pages The Revenge of the Baby-Sat – 128 pages Weirdos from Another Planet – 128 pages I don't have many comic-books at home, but when I can get my hands on C&H... :hehe2:
Ancilla Domini Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 There's Treasure Everywhere - 175 pages (Don't worry, I am reading things other than C&H, but I'm just not finished with them yet, so I can't post them. :P)
