If you would stop degrading people you don't know my opinion of you just might raise a tiny bit!
You do not know me personally, or the rest of phatmass so you have NO right to tell me that I don't know about the effects of bad choices!
I'd suggest until you personally know me and the rest of us that you keep your mouth shut about what we know and experience.
It's about appreciating the people who put forth the effort. Again, once you enter the working world and see the negative effect on morale that not appreciating the effort good employees make you will see my point.
So the fact that a person is virgin outweighs the fact they can be a drunk, a masturbator, a gossip, a thief and everything else? And lets not forget the sin of pride?

Maybe staying a virgin is the hardest thing for you to do, but please don't speak for the entire male population. I am not sure they would all agree to your generalizations.

I appreciate anybody who works on all their faults and temptations.

Excuse me? If I told a 40-year old to keep their mouth shut when I was 14 I would have been put in my place. You need to learn respect for your elders and stop being so snotty.

Maybe if you lost your family before high school and had to fend for your own self and learn to put TV dinners in the oven for Christmas dinner you'd have a different attitude, too. If you are going to fault a person for wanting to be "equally yoked" to a fellow virgin after that, I feel very sorry for you and fear for your generation.

I'm signing off from this thread. Posts like yours only serve to make people's blood pressure go through the roof, which is something people entering their "heart attack years" cannot afford.

Have a nice life.

okay this thread really needs to get back on subject......theres no need for judging or taking ppl's posts out of content, of misunderstanding, or for this to continue on tis track anymore..... :(

there is also no need to get as personal as this has gotten when there was never any intention of doing so from the very beginning....

sincere apologies to all who have been offended, hurt or angered by this thread's tangent (for a lack of another word)......for that was certainly not the purpose or intention of this thread when it was created.......

May we all come in a deeper love together in Christ through all our lives and sacrifices....for no matter what, we are all created in God's image and Love....
all precious in God's eyes. God loves us all as if there was only one of us to love.... :) let us always be a reflection of that love through all we do....and certainly knows our hearts

i think now would be a good time to get back to the original post of this thread... :)

God bless and pax christi.....
I want to know how important money and stability is to girls in choosing their husband. If you had a holy man on fire for Christ, but he had a career that would entail financial struggles (most likely forever), and you would have to struggle to support your children, would you still go through with it???
That's why I got my education perferably my masters....to help out the little I could without having to work "full-time" and hopefully at home.

Poor or rich, if he's Catholic, can make me laugh, sweet, kind, and loves and likes to work with kids, that would be cool. and have all the other 25 creditials I have written down..... LOL! :cyclops:

God usually plans bigger and better than we can imagine. St. Therese helps everyone!

If your asking if it matters between a blue shiny Hummer H3
or a Chevrolet car, then no it doesn't. As long as it runs and your a hard worker hopefully doing what you love to do and love God, your wife and children.

I hope to win the lottery too......and more than just 10 bucks!

Napoleon Dynamite: [walks into store] Hey, how's it goin'. Those egg rolls are looking pretty good. I might get me some later, I don't have any money right now. You know, I think I'm just gonna get me one of them lotto tickets. My wife says I gotta stop but I'm just feeling real positive today and I wanted to try out my luck and -
Cashier: Get out of here. I'm not selling lottery to a minor.
Napoleon Dynamite: I'm just gonna go get my ID.
Let's see....

Rejecting virgins for non-virgins and when you ask why they refuse to answer...

Mocking people for actually believing and getting hope from what is preached in the gospel...

Making a person feel guilty for wanting a family of their own.....pushing them back whenever they try to come out of their shell, dealing blows to their self-confidence....

Maybe you haven't seen that, but I certainly have....and these are Catholic women I'm referring to I've met!!!

So I'll allow that you haven't seen it. Now please allow me what I've seen.
Norseman, i think you are right in saying that we should have a natural desire to be with a Virgin...Virginity or non-Virginity is not a basis for why you should stay in a relationship. bottom line. ;)

I want to thank everyone that posted, and I am sorry that it turned into what it did. The reason I asked is because I am going to college to become a youth minister, which is not ever going to be a high paying job, and I am taking out loans upon loans that I will be paying off for the rest of my life. I often fear that I won't find someone that will marry me knowing that we will be struggling to support ourselves and kids...I've grown up with nothing so I don't need material things to be happy...I feel youth ministry is my calling and vocation, and that is more important to me than anything else. I just hope I find someone that can look past the $$ and who is right for me.

The sig suggested a sense of humor that was not evident in the post. Maybe it was a bad day.

--------------------
There are 10 types of people in the world: those that understand binary and those that don't.

As a lifelong wallflower, I can empathize with not being seen as valuable, and know the resentment of not being valued . . . but you don't take it out on people that have no connection to that pain.

And just for the record, I might be old enough to "suggest" you look in the mirror for the solution to your problems . . . when you like that guy, maybe somebody else will too.

I'm not sure where you were going with that...I'm not a bitter person and I'm not trying to take it out on everyone. I'm comfortable with who I am and won't comprimise my values and faith for anyone or woman. I know that right now God is calling me to be a youth minister (if that changes so be it). It is with this knowledge that I just worry about finding that special someone that is willing to fight through the trials with me. Please let me know what you meant in saying that.

You're OK. I don't think he was talking about you ^_^

zealousrap-- Go to study youth ministry. If you find that you love it, throw yourself into it. Many women would love to have a husband who is a youth minister, even if it means that they have to struggle together. Just make sure that you are loving, virtuous, trustworthy, considerate, and hardworking, and that your wife is someone with similar values with whom you can communicate very well.

And it wouldn't hurt if she was trained in something that would be more financially stable ^_^

Sorry zealous, that was not directed at you in the slightest - yours was a reasonable question - and at the heart of why many men give up part of their dreams in the effort to/hopes of making other dreams better - it doesn't always work out that way

The comments were directed at the "norse" guy whose "sig" I quoted . . . it's actually pretty subtle humor, although it does tend toward the same "I'm better than you" attitude that was more overtly demonstrated in his posts.

I'm also sorry I wasn't on when you noticed this so I could clear it up quicker.

I'm pretty sure someone else already said it, but the best advice I can think of is "be yourself" . . . if a relationship is built on finances, when they go, so does the relationship . . . you need a more enduring basis to select/be selected by a woman . . . humor (a little self-deprecation, but don't carry it to extremes), kindness, confidence in yourself and your dreams, will go a lot farther than a large paycheck that you sweat 50-60-70 hours a week to bring home.. . . make what you enjoy what you do for work . . . and then life is always fun . . . and your spouse to be can join in the festivities
