i went back thru this thread and combined all the instructions, so you have them in one post:

Master List of Instructions

1. once you decide to help, i will give you the link to the new directory that you need in order to do this.

2. to italicize a portion of a title do this:

<i>part of title</i>

3. if a portion of a title was in bold, make it italicized. this also include scripture citations and quotes from scripture in a title.

4. if a link had a note beside it, for example:

note: 343 articles

....then, when u submit the link, put this in its description:

- contains 343 articles

note the hyphen and the space before the note. this must be included as well.

5. if a link had an asterisk (*) beside it, put this in its description:

-- a non-Catholic source

note the double hyphen and the space.

6. if you find one title with more than one link within it, for example:

Was Peter the First Pope?: Parts One and Two

....you will have to make it two separate titles, like this:

Was Peter the First Pope: Part 1
Was Peter the First Pope: Part 2

also note that instead of "One" you put a "1".

7. if a link has a portion in quotation marks, for example:

The Metaphor of Peter as "Rock"

....then, for now, don't include the quotation marks. for some reason, it won't let users do this, so i have to add them in as an admin. tell me when you have to leave quotation marks out so i can add them.

8. if you see a link that directs you to another entry, for example:

note: also see the "Eastern Orthodoxy" section of the Non-Catholic Christian Denominations entry

....then just skip over that. don't include it in the entry.

9. if a link has a pdf and an html version, just submit the pdf version

10. formatting can't be done in the box where you type in descriptions, so if you see a note w/ formatting, for example, italics:

note: see Section II, Was the Apostle Peter a Supreme Pontiff?

....just bring it to my attention and i'll address it on a case-by-case basis.

11. try not to quit work in the middle of an entry. it can be difficult at times to determine where you left off.

12. most of the audio from ewtn can either be streamed or downloaded, so if the link to download does not submit, search for the file at ewtn's audio library (under "Select from a List of EWTN Programs") and submit the link to stream. if it is a link to stream that is not working, submit the link to download (links to stream end in ".ra").

13. in Audio Downloads, the subject that the person is discussing needs to be italicized, for example:

Scott Hahn on The Holy Father

14. sometimes, when you submit a link, it will already contain kewords or a description. if it does, delete this info.

15. if more than one article has the same title, put the name of the website in front of it, for example:

Mary
New Advent: Mary

16. if an audio file from catholic answers is not submitting, then use the address for the results page. here is what you do:

--go to the search page at catholic.com
--in the "search for" drop-down menu, choose "radio shows"
--in the "about" box, type in the exact title for the audio file. for example, w/ the file

Catholic Answers Live on Our Jewish Heritage

.... you would type in "Our Jewish Heritage".

--click search
--use the address for the results page that comes up, instead of the links for "listen" or "download."

also, i noticed that my format is not uniform for how the entries from the catechism are listed. from now on, try to do it like this:

--#813-822: The Church Is One
--#823-829: The Church Is Holy
--#830-856: The Church Is Catholic
--#857-865: The Church Is Apostolic

capitalize the major words in the title, regardless of whether or not it is capitalized in the actual catechism (some titles in the CCC are just lower-case). don't worry about fixing what you have already done. i'll do that.

sorry for the incovenience. i know this may be a hassle, but its important that everything be as uniform as possible.

pax christi,

Cure of Ars

Ok, I only have the audio left to do in the sacraments section. It's not going to get done tonight. I got to get some sleep.
