Do you know the specs of the computer (specific hardware or model at least)?

Actually, I was just about to burn a new version of Ubuntu to wipe my old install...

Well, out of sheer discontent, annoyance, and every other emotional feeling Microsoft can cause one to feel, I am trying out Ubuntu. However, I am having an issue with video...and I don't know where to go to set it. I am also running through HDMI and I hope that does not effect it.

I think this would have been a good version of linux if I could have figured out how to get certain things to work...going to try Knoppix...

What video card do you have? Generally, Nvidia cards tend to work best, b/c you can download full nvidia drivers from them, although distributions tend to not include them because they're not open source.

Sorry... been spending too much time thinking about getting an Xbox 360 and posting on forzamotorsport.net....

I have an Nvidia Geforce 6500 (if I recall) and I tried dloading the drivers from Nvidia but have no idea how to run them (I am completely new to linux)...and I have still been unsuccessful.

As to the 360, wait it out, apparently, there is a new one coming out soon, to trump the European release of the PS3. It could be rumour, but apparently, it is supposed to be black, have a 120gig hdd and HDMI as opposed to component. Basically, a PS3 knockoff ...that is, apart from the 120gig hdd as opposed to the 60gb. :)

Any questions, feel free to ask...and if you have any advice for me, please don't hesitate.

God Bless

In my opinion Mac OS X Leopard is the best mainstream operating system right now. I used to pump up linux to some extent but at this point I don't think it has much to offer to average user. I use Windows but only because I need it for work and some games.
