Mrs. Bro. Adam
The point is anything is possible with God. Anything, regardless of age. How is this an emotional response. If we close ourselves off to the possibility, then we are not fully leaving ourselves open to the will of God. Capice?
I don't think either Brother Adam or myself is closing ourselves off to the possilbility, but we are looking as the Church looks at marriage. Why does God call people to be married? To keep each other company? No. To bear children.

Noel's angel
you don't know that! think of all the people that are told that they can't have children, young and old, and then think of the many who do go on and have children. My cousin was told she would never have children-she has two sons now (to Mrs Bro Adam)
Brother Adam
lol. Are any of you actually reading any of our responses? I seriously doubt it. You are getting frustrated and upset. You haven't offered any positive evidence beyond "Well I think its okay, and I think you're stupid for thinking its not okay". If you have some Catechism reference, or preferably canon law that does not in any circumstance restrict age, let's have it. I already told you I would be happy to change my position, but no one has offered anything beyond heated responses.

Where does it say that a 20 year old cannot marry and 80 year old?

Noel's angel
but they can still have children, even if they are in their 60s or 70s. In that case, people who are told can't have children shouldn't marry, even though I know many people who have been told this and have had children

I'm not frustrated or upset at all. Maybe you are reading too deeply into my responses because I'm cool as a cucmber. And yes, I am reading through your responses. I also never implied that you were stupid. All I am saying is that anything is possible through God and that we should not hinder His will. Since you insist on me quoting from the Catechism (which I am entirely too lazy to do) why don't you show me where it restricts age? Yes, marriage is to bear children, but I've never heard a single thing about generational age restrictions.
Mrs. Bro. Adam
The Catechism says:
Marriage in the order of creation 1603 "The intimate community of life and love which constitutes the married state has been established by the Creator and endowed by him with its own proper laws.... God himself is the author of marriage."[87] The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator. Marriage is not a purely human institution despite the many variations it may have undergone through the centuries in different cultures, social structures, and spiritual attitudes. These differences should not cause us to forget its common and permanent characteristics. Although the dignity of this institution is not transparent everywhere with the same clarity,[88] some sense of the greatness of the matrimonial union exists in all cultures. "The well-being of the individual person and of both human and Christian society is closely bound up with the healthy state of conjugal and family life."[89] 1604 God who created man out of love also calls him to love the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being. For man is created in the image and likeness of God who is himself love.[90] Since God created him man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man. It is good, very good, in the Creator's eyes. And this love which God blesses is intended to be fruitful and to be realized in the common work of watching over creation: "And God blessed them, and God said to them: 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it.'"[91]
The question now is: At what age is it physically impossible to bear children, without the help of God?
