You should post pictures of all of them. I've tried a couple versions of Snugli's but they were always uncomfortable. Once I found the mei tai I stopped looking at other types. I have a sister in law who swears by the wrap-type of carrier (the kind thats like 5 yards of fabric, not a maya wrap with a ring... an ellaroo wrap-type, I guess, but I know thats not the brand she used), but I can't handle all that fabric.
I have an Ellaroo type, but I don't like it really, as it didn't support my back or Kieran enough. I also have a ring sling, which I dislike for the same reasons. The Kari-me is a ton of fabric, but it completely supports my back and Kieran, so it's truly hands-free, and easy on me.

Back support is one of the main reasons I love my mei tai. It's so comfy. I took one look at ring slings and rejected the idea. I know some people really love them, but I knew that with the way I move and operate it wasn't the type of carrier for me.

I used one of the ring slings last summer (I was nanny-ing for a family) and it was really nifty, but it was also the first time I had seen anything like it. And it takes a bit of getting used to, at first, because you have to be careful going through doors and leaning over. Once I got used to it, it wasn't too bad, but on the days that the baby was teething (so she wouldn't let me put her down) I would end up with a sore shoulder.

Yeah, back support is essential. I still have a bit of sciatic pain from Kieran turning backwards during labour, though it's mostly along the back of my left leg now, with occasional twinges in my lower back.

Bending over can be a bit awkward at first with a baby carrier if you wear it on the front, but I've never had to worry about doorways! lol The only time I ever had back pain was when I was carrying Charlotte on my front ALL DAY (from about 9 am to 7 pm) with a fully loaded backpack on as well. It was the backpack that killed me, not the baby carrier! lol

This is the carrier and "tutorial" I made for my sister in law. I'll have to take some pictures of the one I made for myself and post them later. I made one exactly like mine for my sister. AND I am going to make about 4 more for another sister in law and some friends of mine who all have newborns or are expecting. I just need my sewing machine to arrive from Korea.

I need to stop talking to you. I'm getting freaked out by all the things that can happen during a pregnancy! :harhar:
But yes, as a physical therapist, I'm sure I'll be all for back support. :hehehe:

Well, the doorways were mainly because you have to remeber to shift the baby to the front, because if they're bigger, they kinda sit on your hip. I think with little babies, it would be easier, because then they'd be laid down in front.
And that's a really nift carrier you made. Does it take some practice getting it on with a wiggly baby?

Yeah, I figured you meant with a bigger baby. There is actually a way to tie the mei tai on your hip, too, I just don't like to do it. I prefer back or front (mostly back now that Charlotte is big, up until she was about a year old I always had her on my front).

The first couple times you put it on it can be a bit awkward, you might want to put the baby on while you're sitting down. You get the hang of it pretty quickly, though. I don't even think about it, its like second nature to me now! If you start them off in the carrier when they're really little they are so used to it that squirmy isn't really an issue; they'll love being in it. I can pick mine up and Charlotte comes running all excited because she wants up. Sometimes she will find it folded up on a chair or something and bring it to me and ask for it.

This website demonstrates different ways of using the carrier--you'll notice that all hers tie in the front (when baby is worn on the front). I make my straps longer so that I can bring them back around and tie at my back.

 If it helps, I had some lower back pain prior to becoming pregnant, it was just exacerbated by him turning backwards. It really only twinges some now, nothing horrible. Overall, I'd say I had a very good pregnancy, and a very short labour.

I'll have to post pics later, but I got Kieran's first Liverpool FC home kit today. And he looks adorable in it. :))

He made friends with my mom's cat. At least as long as he was asleep. :hehe:

Hanging out with his great uncle. His 2nd cousin was none too pleased at sharing his grandfather with Kieran.
