They are #8 in the western conference, though they're up 2 games to none in the series against the #1 San Jose Sharks.

So yeah they're doing pretty good so far.

The Caps are for real, now that they have a real goaltender. Varlo is KILLING IT.

Boston should really hope they get to face the Rangers. Never has a team played so poorly and still gotten to a game 7. But right now it's looking lke Boston and Washington in the second round.

The NJ/Carolina series has gotten little-to-no national press, but it's been a terrific series. Pens/Flyers. Pens are still for reals. They play like carp for most of the series, and they still win 4 out of 6. And have 22 wins in 31 games with their new coach.

Basically anybody who gets to the second round out of the East has a chance. Except for the Rangers. If it turns out to be Boston/Pittsburgh and Washington/Jersey, woo boy. Look. Out. It's going to be an awesome series.

San Jose's playoff record since the lockout: 21-21. San Jose's record as the higher seeded team: 10-14. That just won't get you a Cup. Vancouver = for real. Luongo is the best goaltender on the planet. Gettig through round 1 is always a good sign.

Game four nonwithstanding, Osgood has played pretty well for the Red Wings. I'm pretty shocked by this to be honest, as he's been the worst starting goalie in te league all year. But it looks like he's turned it on just in time. At least it looks that way so far. I don't think he'll be anything special, but he'll be the adequate role player the Wings need--which is what he's done his whole career. If he is, the Wings should be better than they were last year (see: Hossa, Marian).

So Detriot is definitely the best team right now. It just blows my mind that a goaltender can go from being so terrible for six months, to having three of his best games in the first three game of the playoffs.

But we'll see what happens. Any team is capable of grenading at any point. And the Wings were facing the Blue Jackets. Not the Ducks.

Calgary/Chicago. What a series.

DS, you rock. :woot:
