Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The White House is not happy with the millions of Americans who oppose the pro-abortion government-run health care plan Congress is considering. In a new post on the White House web site, Obama administration officials ask people to become tattletales on groups and people who oppose the health care bill.

In a post titled "Facts Are Stubborn Things" that is quickly generating nationwide controversy, Obama's staff are asking for people to turn in anyone who says anything "fishy" about the pro-abortion health plan.

With the abortion funding and insurance mandates for abortion that are in the bill, and the Obama's administration and pro-abortion groups insisting that pro-abortion components are not present, that could wind up at the top of the list.

"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end-of-life care," the White House says. "These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain e-mails or through casual conversation."

"Since we can't keep track of all of them here at the White House, we're asking for your help. If you get an e-mail or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov," the Obama web site says.

Complaints have come quickly from pro-life advocates concerned that their opposition to the health care plan could be reported to Obama officials.

"They're looking for tattletales; they're looking for snitches; they're looking for informants; they want their groupies to tattle on you if you happen to be telling the truth about what's in the health care plan," conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh responded. "The White House has, as yet, offered no explanation of what it is they plan to do with the tips on policy opposition they hope to receive from citizen informers."

Jeff Emanuel, who runs the conservative web site RedState, is also upset.

"The term 'disinformation' is used by the Obama White House as a catchall to describe any opposition to the president's push for single-payer, government-run health care," he says.

"The White House wants to be informed of any forwarded e-mails or blog posts or any 'casual conversations' could be taken as opposition to their health care overhaul plan," he says, wanting to know what the White House plans to do with the information.

The post is reminding some of an incident earlier this year, that saw the Department of Homeland Security produce a report saying "opponents of abortion" are likely to engage in extremism or terrorism.

In the new document, the Department of Homeland Security warned law officials about a supposed rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the poor economy and presence of a black president could spark problems.

A footnote attached to the nine-page report from the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis said the activities of pro-life advocates is included in "rightwing extremism in the United States.”

"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning said.

The Obama administration sent the document to police and sheriff's departments across the country on April 7 under the headline, "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment."

The point of the e-mail seems to be that they want people to report the idiotic rumors that fear mongers use to scare the gullible so they can counter them. They are asking people to tell them the rumors, not report the names of political opponents.

Seems like good strategy and absolutly nothing to get excited about. Unless one is looking for something to twist out of context and blow out of proportion in the deperate quest to find anything to panic over.

It's a good strategy if you want to take out the opposition. Basically it's BIG GOVERNMENT looking to silence critics and opposition. They promise many things about this health care system but that doesn't mean that's the truth and they should necessarily be trusted.

It is something to get excited about. When government starts wanting to control what is talked about and debated........you better hang onto your first amendment rights. :sword:

Only if you accecpt the partisan commentary as gospel rather than making a level headed evaluation of what the text of the actual staff post says.

Good strategy? You don't want any more voting in America, do you? If you don't get excited about this, you may not have the opportunity to get excited about anything again! We need to stop it NOW while we can. Maybe you forgot or don't understand what happened in during WWII. People disappeared. I would rather over react now than be sorry later. Remember prolife people (those of us who don't want to kill or murder others) are considered dangerous. While those who have no problem sucking a babies' brains out are heros. I suggest we get excited!

Yes. I hope that nobody in America will ever be able to vote again. Marx willing, soon Dear Leader Obama will be able to establish a Stalinist regime and usher in a workers paradise through sweet communism.

I'm not saying I will always accept opposition commentary as gospel, but rather the point is that there is no reason to have this "snitch plan".

If Obama and the Democrats have a good health care plan, I'm sure they will be able to make a good presentation for it and convince the public otherwise. To have a program to control debate on it is to say that your health care program is not as good as it is being raved about and the only way they will be able to get the public to accept it is to silence critics.

Face it. There is no reason to have this except more control for the  Obama government.

If Bush started something like this.......you guys would never stop talking about the injustice of it.

wow, love how Hassan was saying its nothng bad unless you are the type to overreact to things, and then this post? wow.

seems like a campaign against internet disinformation. totally a hopeless battle and pretty pointless, but hardly the end of the world.
like it or not some of the opposing points on government policy are just plain falsified and are actually disinformation. such as "vote no on prop ??? because it secretly means obama gets access to your bank accounts, to fund his baby seal clubbing expeditions" etc

But to have someone tattle on you?

What about the things most people think about the Catholic Church that are not true. Most intelligent people know 90% of what is on the internet is inaccurate. Don't think we need Big Brother "taking care of us".

It didn't ask for people to "tattle" on other people, it asked them to report "fishy" rumors.

The white house is trying to get ahead of the disinformation campaign that is underway, like the one the took the Clinton effort off the tracks, so they are asking people to let them know what non sense is out there so they can try to rebut it with their points and arguments.

Which, of course, is a common step for rising dictators to implement right before they send out the death squads to murder their political opponents.

I or Angel*Star are not saying that all things said against the government are gospel truth. Rather we are pointing out that this program has the capability and realistic potential to give the government the ability to shut down any type of opposition to it's plan whether the opposition is legit or not. Who gets to decide what information is true and what is not? Will the government really admit legitimate concerns or will they lie and say something is false when it is in fact not because they want their program to make it?

Maybe Bush should have had this program when we went to Iraq? I'm sure you and Hassan would have been fine with it. After all, the government would never lie to us. :rolling:

Basically this program is saying that people are stupid and will believe crazy stories so we better eliminate all the possible bad stories so the stupid citizens are not swept away with any ideas........forbid the thought.

If the government was all GOP.....would you trust them with a similar program? ;)

What about the idea that maybe it wasn't disinformation that stopped ClintonCare and was actually legitimate concerns?

Do enough research and government health care is not as rosy as it seems. Of course that is all rubbish and needs to be reported. :D

What high ranking Nazi official said something about if you say a big lie enough times, it becomes truth? The bottom line is that this will give the Democrats time to over-vocalize over any opposition whether it be legit or not.

In the end, it is not about truth, but about shouting louder to drown out the other guy and sell your product.

It was Goebbels, EE. He was Hitler's Minister of Propaganda.

Anyhow, I find it interesting how different sites put a different spin on this article. I was just reading one on The Dallas News that was "Cornyn accuses White House of compiling 'enemies list'" instead of an even more inflammatory statement like "snitch"ing.

Obama's health care plan is a complete mess that will destroy health care in this country. Abortion is the genocide of the most vulnerable people in this country. He should be thrown out of office today.

Fidei Defensor

I don't think this is solely about abortion... I'm pretty sure it's about the healthcare reform in general.

And I'm pretty sure the first paragraph is misleading because millions more Americans are in favor of reform than are against it, contrary to the picture they try to paint about people being opposed.
