I have like 6, and I wont leave any at home because I have an attachment to all of them... So, I carry a small pouch within my purse that holds them all... I know, I have issues.

Your quote made me laugh (: You are adorable! I always keep the one veil I own in my purse, but I'm sure if I had more I would do the same.

Since I attend an FSSP parish I always veil at Sunday Mass. If I go to a NO Mass I will veil depending on the circumstances. For example, Father David Mary of the Franciscan Brothers Minor is very traditional-minded, so I will veil when attending Mass at the Brother's Chapel.

Me too! I thought the only time a woman or girl wore a veil in church was for her First Communion, and on her wedding day. Thats it. No more no less.

I think my Mom told me once at some point, in a rather hushed voice IIRC, that we could receive on the tongue but I never did until I was forced to. Around three years ago I was in Washington DC and got food poisoning so due to that had to hold every handrail in the city just to make it down any set of stairs I was so weak. I was determind to go to Mass at the BNIC though which I made it to but with no chance to wash my hands they were filthy. I wasnt about to receive Jesus on such hands so I said here goes nothing and received on the tongue. Something changed in me at that point and Ive been receiving that way ever since.

:) I think receiving Communion on the tongue is reverent and beautiful, and if you ever get the chance to kneel, that is even more beautiful.

One time when I went to Mass, I asked St Padre Pio to help me understand the holiness of the Mass, and I felt such a great desire to veil. Ever since then I have felt that way. When I didn't wear a headcovering, I felt uncomfortable, like something is missing, and when I thought of all the Angels being present and the Saints praising God, I wanted to cover my head for some reason. I can't really explain it well though. Last year I had the chance to attend an FSSP parish and bought a veil there.. many women wore headcoverings at the parish, so I didn't stand out at all. From the first time I wore it, I loved it. I think it's so Mary-like and it makes you feel more humbled and hidden. It also prevents distractions because it limits your side vision lol :) then I went to a retreat and some of the girls there wore veils, so I wore mine too. Now I can't always go to the Latin Mass, and at my home parish, no one wears head coverings. I'm still too afraid to wear the veil there and save it for the diocesan Latin Mass I sometimes am able to attend. I wish I could go there every week but can't get transportation. At my home parish, I often feel like I stand out because I wear skirts and a hat, and during the summer I can't wear the hat anymore, and would switch to a scarf, or... the veil..... :o If I find the courage!! I focus too much on how I would appear at my parish, whether I'd look like I'm trying to be "holier than thou", etc, however this Sunday a lady at Mass told me she's glad to see a young person praying in church so that was very encouraging :)

I wear a hat; I haven't figured out what I'm going to do when the season changes. My family probably wouldn't sit with me if I wore a veil.

I love his Masses. I kneel to receive from Fr. David Mary; it's amazing

I have just started veiling. I'm the only one at my parish who does so I have received some odd looks. Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that I have become less and less self-conscious about wearing my veil.

Its a nice surprise to see my thread come back.
I still wear my chapel veil at my parish and still the only one that does.

I want to start to veil beyond Holy Mass and I think I'll start for Lent this year.

I tell you one thing when I forget my veil for Mass, I feel naked.

I forgot to bring my head covering with me on a retreat I went on last weekend and I felt so strange without it.

I can't even imagine it. I've been into a church one without my headscarf since I started wearing it and that was only because I was having an absolutely awful day and was struggling spiritually so I spontaneously went into the church after Mass to pray. I've realised I've forgotten my headscarf halfway on the way to class and run home and run to class so I could go to Mass after.

My mother and I also wear a veil. We are the only ones in our parish. It is for personal use and effect. Not to show off or be "holier than thou" I remember reading on "Catholic Answers Forum" about veiling as well. A young lady had remarked that when she did not wear hers, she was more distracted. I can attest to this especially since when I forgot mine on the superbowl I had extreme trouble paying attention. I do it for God and that's who it's for. :) It is also in 1 Corinthians I believe Chapter 12 about veiling.

For any girls here who maybe are shy about veiling, etc., remember that no matter the criticism you may face (and probably you will face some) there are people who would be thrilled about the decision to veil. As a guy, personally, I feel a huge amount of respect and gratitude when I see women with their traditional veils. Gratitude because I know those people are representing in a very tangible way our attitudes of reverence and worship. Especially the younger women who obviously weren't raised in an environment where that is the norm. There are people who appreciate it. I agree with past me.

Also I miss L_C. I hear she's very happy in her community. ^_^ I need to fix the rosary she made for me; I broke one of the jump rings and haven't gotten around to replacing it.

This Scripture is taken from 1:Corinthinans chapter 11. It has a lot of explainations about wearing the veil. I had brought my bible to out catholic scripture study and the topic of veils came up. I brought it to another young girl who is almost 21. She sees young women at her college wearing the veil as well. I do beleive they are making a comeback. The only women that I "see" wearing a veil at our church are my mother, another older lady, and myself. I do not wear one to stand out. I wear it for Christ my Eternal Spouse, out of respect for the Holy of Holies- The Eucharist. I also receive communion on the tongue as I feel unworthy to receive it in my "dirty" hands.

As the Scripture states, "any woman who prays of prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon her head. It is one in the same as if she had her head shaved" 1 Corinthians 5

While it may be considered "ultra-orthodox" or "ultra-traditional" it is not for us to judge our ownselves while we feel ourselves judged by other people for making a profession of faith. Did all the girls at their First Holy Communion not wear a veil? I hope most of us did! Also, when I was little, you got a hat for Easter and wore it until almost Pentecost and until it no longer fit you our was out of the Liturgical season on Sundays. So, if we covered our heads then, why not cover our heads now?

All Scripture is taken from the New American Bible and can be found on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop's (USCCB) website. http://www.usscb.org
