Amppax Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) The Occupy movement is too mainstream Edited November 22, 2011 by Amppax
dairygirl4u2c Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 i wouldn't say it's an unnecessary movement. there's ways to create jobs and help people's misfortune, which is at the heart of most of their discontent. our leaders are too dimwited to address all this stuff, right. much in the same way as the tea party's movement isn't unnecessary... there's something to be said about taxes being too high, or more specifically, our spending being run amok. it'd be better though, on the spending side, for them to put the blame of leaders who don't know how to manage, simple fiscal discipline....... read, borrowing money you don't have, or even more specifically, cutting taxes you don't have,,,, to spend what you don't have, to make folks like the tea party happy. ironic their rallying cry of less taxes is what got the country into the situation it's in, regarding it's unfilled obligations and run amok debt.
Jesus_lol Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Here is another lovely bit from the protests. a pregnant woman miscarried after being peppersprayed and kicked in the stomach by a police officer. http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/pregnant-woman-miscarries-after-being-sprayed-with i think its about time some of these officers start looking down the barrel of hard jail time.

The pregnant woman refuses to provide medical records backing up her claim and has refused a ride, from an investigator, to and from the hospital to obtain the records. And the Seattle Police Dept has yet to receive an official complaint of the alleged incident. I agree that the police have been operating pretty indiscriminately in their response to these protests. And that there appears to be excessive force occurring here and there. That said, should force not be used? If no, then in lieu of letting the protesters continue to break any law they want, what are the authorities to do? Edited November 23, 2011 by Papist
add Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) The sum (=) of this movement is: "Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you" Edited November 24, 2011 by add
cmotherofpirl Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Ah yes - the big bad cops and the poor innocent protesters....NOT. Videos of protesters running up to cameras to tell their stories is rarely the WHOLE story. I wanna hear the cops version - the part about the name-calling - the threats - or the fact they never know what the guy has behind his back or in her pocket, How they, mostly hard working people with families who live paycheck to paycheck (like most people) feel like they are being treated. Of course a lot of them today weren't available for interviews, they were manning meals-on-wheels and soup kitchen or delivering to shut-ins so the regulars could be with THEIR families Seriously.

Keep in mind that I think the Occupy movement is misdirected and therefore ineffectual, but I also think Kennedy was largely wrong.
the cops show up with suits of armor, shields, grenades, batons and guns, and then proceed to use them on everyone nearby. im not worried about their feelings. many were acting counter to the law, and brutality and overreaction is basically the going theme. if you have been watching the videos, the content does not include people running up and telling their story. the videos generally include very clear cases(first hand) of police beating, and abusing protesters, and several have been quoted yelling that they will deny protestors their rights and beat the hell out of them.
Nihil Obstat Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 (edited) The police forces of the US, most of Canada, and probably all other first world countries you'd care to name (maybe most of the world; I haven't thought in that much depth), have developed into quasi-military organizations. It's no longer "serve and protect"; it's about maintaining power. I don't agree with most of what OWS stands for because I think they're rather missing the point, but that doesn't mean I'm on the side of the police. Edited November 25, 2011 by Nihil Obstat
Chiara Francesco Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I like these pictures:

add Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 We live in the land of plenty, it seams to me them occupy protesters don't appreciate how good they have it. Or undervalue the standard of living in today's "mood-a-go-go" society . I'm not a wealthy person in terms of money, but I can't complain as I have been blessed with a loving wife and children My cup runnith over
Nihil Obstat Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 And just think of how much better off you'd be without the Federal Reserve and the Patriot Act as a start.....
Nihil Obstat Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011
It works for me
No, it makes you work for the politicians of the warfare-welfare state and the corporatist agenda.
