The Crimson Thread, a retelling of 'Rumpelstiltskin' by Suzanne Weyn Montmorency, Theif, liar, gentleman? by Eleanor Updale Counterfeit Son by Eleaine Alphin The last one was a bit dark, and not very well written. The second one was really well written, but the morals of the main character are a bit questionable (he is a theif, but he kind of reforms at the end...). The first one was very good, a nice twist on the original!
Amppax Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Ok. I re-read the first Brotherband Chronicles book, The Outcasts, by John Flanagan. Also by John Flanagan the first and second rangers apprentice books, The Ruins of Gorlan and The Burning Bridge. I also read The Foundling by Georgette Heyer. I love that book! We have very similar tastes in books. and very well, I will play this silly little game. Quantam Prophecy's series, all books but three (2) Superhuman Series (3) Rangers Apprentice Book 10 (1) When I get bored, I pick up YA fiction, and don't put it down until I'm done 2+ hours later.

If there is interest, I'm also working on a way for us to track both pages read AND books read.... so if you will want to track your pages, you might get those numbers ready for when we're ready to start tracking those! I want to confirm with Byz that he likes what I am suggesting before putting it up here..... Cartermia, page counting would probably be helpful for you as you have a goal of 2013 pages (took me a while to figger out why that odd number... AnneLine can be dense..... If Byz hasn't said anything further by this evening, I'll update the list. Will be heading to a funeral soon, so won't be back for a few hours.... and who knows if Phatmass will let me in... last night was a no go. Maybe we should suggest to the Phorum it go off and read a book and get a little rest?

You only get credit for books if you name Book & Author. We will also track pages per book, Just include the number of pages in the book as you finish, or send 'em in now. (If you don't include pages, you won't get no page credit.) Easy! BIG NEWS!!!! We're offering TWO PRIZES (nice used books to be mailed to you!) at the end of the summer -- One prize for MOST BOOKS READ and A second prize for MOST PAGES READ. This will make it a little fairer for the people who are reading a few giant books!!!! Will submit current standings shortly!

Unless I get credit for my Maryknoll Missal and Holy Ghost Prayer Book too. Plus, Popular Catholic Novenas and those kind folks at St. Jude's have sent me at least two dozen St. Jude prayer books over the years. I should get credit for those as well!

Well I wasn't going to claim all 2015 pages! :) I just figure I do spend about an hour a day reading it... it ought to be worth something other than pure Praise (although I'll settle for that if Byz tells me to move it off the list...) I figured to claim about 500 pages from start of competition to when that volume 'ends' -- in about another 4 weeks. (Probably should be more, but hey... I'll play fair....) I don't think THAT's too outrageous.... I think Byz should be able to claim his Service Books as well..... yup, I would think so.... You can calculate your own mileage on the Missals, Novena Books, etc. if you want, Dr. B. Just as long as you are reading them during this challenge.... Seems fair to me...? What do the rest of you think! If you all want it out, I'll take it out.... community before counting.... Mortality was 104 pages :) Got it!
