Thank you, Spem and TT!!!!   Hoping for a few more miles.... I'll be going away this weekend, so if it doesn't come in soon... will have to wait till late next week for mileage update for last week.  But we can do 2 weeks together again.....

Meanwhile... time to get moving!

As with all these maps, be sure to select the little walking man.  You may want to switch between looking at the 'terrain' and the 'google earth' option to get the best view of this part of the journey.

Both warm and possibly stormy -- and thunder!  Bring water, and wear a poncho or waterproof hat... and take frequent breaks!

VERY WARM so be sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen, and wear appropriate clothing.

I have been to Grand Canyon, and I have been to Moab.  BUT I have never traveled along the road between them.   So, it makes sense to look at what the local travel websites have to say... here's a good overview.  We won't be visiting all these places, but Northern Arizona and Southern Utah is beautiful....

Tigger60 said to me, when she looked at the map (above) --- it looks like we will be going through a LOT of mountains this week!  Yup.  And I'd enjoy them... because in just a few weeks you will wish you could see a mountain... you'll see!!!!!

But let's get started...

First stop....

Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, AZ

I had never heard of the Vermilion Cliffs until I started researching this entry.  Wow.

The NPS (National Park Service) websit calls this a "hoodoo-iferous" terrain.   Apparently the odd pillars of rock are called Hoodoos!   They are caused by erosion.

A video about southern Utah and Bryce Canyon....

And this is wonderful place to look at the stars, too.... this is one of the best places in the USA to look at the night sky.....

That should keep you busy for a few hours.... more to follow..... hopefully before I have to go on Saturday....

I has not forgotten you.  I have been on vacation...  I have been walking a little while traveling many miles as a passenger (1,700 +) over the last week, but it doesn't count for mileage!!!   :(

(But no word from me as I had no internet access....)

Hope to get the last part of the previous leg of our journey documented in the next 48 hours or so.... and then we will head north toward.... Salt Lake City and Idaho!

Keep on walking, and please DO put in your mileage!
