A shamefully low 5 miles... :paperbag:  I can now only speak in whispers so no weekend jaunts for me.

Hey, L&T!  Glad to see you stopping with us.   You're welcome to join us if you want to!  Yes, we take any kind of mileage -- foot, motorized scooter, bicycle, volleyball!   Basic rule is this:  you can wear a pedometer, if one wants. If you don't wear a pedometer, let us know so we will give you a 10 mile per week 'breathing' credit - that approximates wearing the pedometer.  Then you can count 15 mins of any kind of exercise=1mile.  (Frankly I guess you can count bike miles as bike miles, i dunno....)  While we are in the western and central USA, probably all the miles we can get will be appreciated!  You may want to slow down the count when we get to the East Coast or we may miss large cities!

Most people report their mileage after midnight on Saturday; but really you can do it any time.  I'm trying to get our weekly mileage up at mid-week....

If you check earlier in the thread you'll see where we have planned to walk, and be able to get 'caught up' with us.

My MIL is still with us... looks like I will have a day home today, so I'll try to get another installment or 2 up... .:)

If anyone would like to 'sponsor' a location coming in the future, just let me know... it's pretty easy to do the map and find interesting places to visit.... :)

Have a good day, everyone!!!!!

Anyways, I just set up the pedometer today and Im taking it for a spin!

Basic 10 (sorry to not be around) and then given the amount of time spent walking/running around campus trying to fix things that shouldn't need fixed to begin with...going to claim another 10.  So 20? :)

TheresaThoma, yes, we would LOVE to have you play tour guide -- any of you can do this!!!!   If you have been there (live near there or have visited) or just have an interest in researching a place, just let me know!!!!   I'd love others to share the tour guide job!

It's really easy to do, and I'll explain how I do it if there is interest.

And as for today....  Well... this is a start... more to come!!!!

As with all these maps, be sure to select the little walking man.  You may want to switch between looking at the 'terrain' and the 'google earth' option to get the best view of this part of the journey.

First stop....

Prescott National Forest and Town of Prescott, AZ

We've spent the last few days hanging out here in the Prescott National Forest, and the nearby Town of Prescott.   Here is an excellent website from their visitor's bureau....

http://www.visit-prescott.com/

And here are some nice photos.... and more things to do before we leave.

If you haven't had a chance to look around, check out this video... it will give you some idea about why the people who like the Southwest part of the USA like this part of Arizona!

Cottonwood, AZ

There isn't much to Cottonwood... but it will give you a feel for what a small town in his part of

Arizona would have felt like 75 years or so ago...

Sedona, AZ

You want beautiful?  Restful?   Spiritual?  Sedona might be a good place for you!  It is also one of the areas that has been featured in movies and photo shots.  And why not.  It is simply breathtaking.  "God created Grand Canyon, but He lives in Sedona" is one of their slogans....

Here is a website with more pictures and some ideas of things to do here....

You may want to check out the Chapel of the Holy Cross:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapel_of_the_Holy_Cross_(Sedona,_Arizona)

It really is a Catholic chapel!

From Wikipedia:

On the sculptor's words, “Though Catholic in faith, as a work of art the Chapel has a universal appeal. Its doors will ever be open to one and all, regardless of creed, that God may come to life in the souls of all men and be a living reality.”

This is an excellent video that will give you a feel for the place, and let you see some of the exquisite beauty of Sedona.... just move past the intro if you want to just get to the video of the area.

That chapel looks amazing!

No walking for me today (still can't talk, and it's been raining for at least six hours straight). Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday I'll be back on my feet.

You (and anyone else without a pedometer) also get the 10 miles 'breathing' credit.  You don't need to talk to breathe.  Heavy-duty sinus attacks still count for breathing miles.  :)

Yay! :) Love the sound of "breathing miles". I'm pretty sure I have laryngitis (it looks like my sister has kindly shared hers with me), so it may be a few days yet.
