I've heard not-so-good things about Locks of Love - although not being in the USA this is all quite second-hand information of course. It was something about them not being completely honest about how they use the hair donated to them, not being ethical in their practices, and not administering their finances in a way one might expect with a charity.

But take this with a pinch of salt! If anyone's interested I'll try and dig up the source where I read all this.

Love and prayers,

PP

Well then...forget that. I'll keep my hair until I find something better to do with it.

^ The blonde in the picture is the back of my head! :ninja:
I've done Locks for Love... I cut 10" off about 5 years ago. My roommate did it. (It was the first time my hair was above my shoulders in over 12 years or something.) I'm sure there were some split ends in there. But I did receive a nice "thank you" in the mail from Locks for Love a few weeks after I mailed the hair in.

I'm thinking about doing it again, but I need to have a 2" trim. And then I'd still have about 4" to go.... so I'm a little up in the (h)air about it.

I like what St. Therese did with hers  They arranged it in a frame with flowers. At OLAM, the hair that gets cut is placed on a silver tray and put on the altar for the day of the sisters Investment- to symbolize that it is a gift to Our Lord.

I think something similar happens with the CFRs. I know each girl has her own silver bowl for her hair which is kept by the community.

Seriously! :o We were looking at a book during my visit in NY and saw the picture of it. They way it's edited in this book though is just perfect for seeing it really well. It's her hair against a white background and the page is quite large. It's like large children's book size so it's not quite as tiny as it is on here.

If you get time to spend in the library at the novitiate, you might look at it. I think it's sitting on the little table in front of the cases. (Sr. Miriam could point it out for you if she's around.)

My step-niece SHAVED her head to raise money for something that at the moment I can't remember. She said it was fun and she got to wear baseball caps in school. LOL :D:
Oh btw she was about 10 or so!!!

Also, so the hair is cut, offer up your feelings about this issue to God for the salvation of souls! :saint:
