Sometimes i think the details can be a little boring, but since it's 9:30 on a Friday night, what the heck. LOL

On 1/29 we had our first appointment with the specialist. Cool guy. Huge NY Giants fan.

They did a cervical ultrasound and it measured 4.6cm. This is really good, and is in the upper 'normal' range. At this stage, and at that measurement, the cervix is called 'thick'. Basically, with the previous 2, the cervix (they are hypothesizing) thinned out, possibly funneled allowing the bag of waters to buldge and then pop. SO a thick cervix is good.

At that time, we talked about a cerclage and other possible treatments. The Dr. would do a cerclage if we wanted, but really does not want to introduce anything that might cause infection or cause the bag to rupture. Instead, he suggested she come back every 2 weeks to get an cervix measurement. IF it is seen to dramatically thin out, then an emergency cerclage will be done.

This is a difficult thing for me, cause I like things to be fixed. NOW. But we think the haste of being over-aggresive may end up being conuter-productive.

She will get the ultrasound at week 15, and 17. The at weeks 18-22 she will go every week as it is during this time we lost the last two.

Shea went to the Dr. again on Valentine's Day and her cervix measured 4cm. Still very good. I was a little freaked because it went from 4.6 to 4, but the Dr. says this happens and the cervix thickness does flucuate. If it were to get to 2, then worry, he said.

The Dr. also recommended progesterone shots in weeks 17-25. There have been some studies that would seem to indicate it could help in our situation and would definately not hurt anything. I would be giving her the shots. As long as she doesn't hit me for sticking her. I have heard it can be as much as $500/week; so i am in the process of checking my insurance. I don't know how $500/week is gonna happen; but if it'll help, i'll do whatever to get it for her and baby.

She still has morning sickness that lasted all day and all night, but she is a trooper. She seems to smile alot when i cook or clean. I think she kinda gets a kick of the domesticated MIKolbe. So I try to clean something everyday so she can see it and smile. oh my..maybe she's tricking me into house cleaning!!!!!!! that's ok, her smile is worth it :)

Her next appointment is 2/29.

:) that made me smile. :)

i remember sitting in the recliner, hugely pregnant, just fresh from getting off of work, and watch my husband putter around the kitchen making dinner. :) it made me smile too.

i'm glad things are going well!

Nothing wrong with a centimeter. They're just like miniature inches.

I just recommend a middle name other than "Michael." I dunno why. Thomas sounds nice though. :)

My friends named their first child "Mary Grace."
