BG45 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Bit old but just saw Valkyrie. Surprisingly close to the true events for a "based on" film.
Sarah147 Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 (edited)
just watched the remake of TRUE GRIT, it was okay but the John Wayne's version is way better
I just watched that recently (the new version). It was excellent. The 14-year-old was a great actress indeed. My only problem with the movie was the graphic gorey parts, and there were a few. Edited June 23, 2011 by JoyfulLife
Seven77 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Tree of Life---very interesting. Elevator to the Gallows---b/w late 50's French flick 3rd Narnia movie--very entertaining
Not A Mallard Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Cars 2 wasn't as good as the first Cars, but it was fun. Though I was surprised at how violent it was for a G-rated movie.
Sarah147 Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) I like the Narnia movies. I also like the "Night at the Museum" movies, though the one with Hank Azaria (spelling?) was a little dark with the Mummy other world stuff. Edited June 24, 2011 by JoyfulLife
ThePenciledOne Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011
3:10 to Yuma (2007)
Cam42 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 RENT It is a faithful rendition of the musical. Very pleased with the outcome.
Feriku Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 It's not new by any means, but last night we were watching Here Comes Mr. Jordan. It's a funny movie.
Sarah147 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) I want to see: Larry Crowne Unknown Adjustment Bureau I have no idea how they'll be... It's hard to find totally clean movies these days! I recently saw: Oceans 11 (Beware: language and sexual content PG-13. I'd suggest you should be an adult and fast forward.) Stranger than Fiction (Very interesting story! But beware: disturbing images, sexuality, language, and rear nudity. I'd suggest it for adults that fast forward those parts.) It has Will Ferrell and Dustin Hoffman. Splanglish (Very interesting how they deal with the language barrier and the Mom is Catholic and virtuous. Beware: swearing, body touching, extra-marital kissing, bedroom scene, and tell of an affair. I would say only adults that fast forward.) Edited June 27, 2011 by JoyfulLife
Totus Tuus Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) The BEST thing I have seen this summer was "North and South." Also, over Christmas we watched a little-known film called, "Lovely Still," which I HIGHLY recommend. It was fabulous. Third, MegaMind was hilarious and great for the family. Basilisa Marie Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 This is an oldie and Danish, but I really really enjoyed "Babette's Feast." It's subtitled, but has a wonderful message about service. Babette is a Catholic Frenchwoman fleeing persecution, and ends up cooking and keeping house for two elderly sisters. The sisters are keeping up a congregation of very strict, austere Protestants founded by their father. But they eventually let Babette prepare a meal celebrating their father's would-be 100th birthday, and everyone's pretty surprised.

It's like they took penance and poverty to a scrupulous extreme. Edited July 2, 2011 by JoyfulLife
cmotherofpirl Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 One of the loveliest movies I have seen in a very long time is Arranged that came out in 2007 and can be found on Netflix. Its a 10 in my book.
