Sarah147 Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) The Body with Antonio Banderas (TV-14. This is a secular movie about Religion. A Religious friend thought it was a great movie. I on the other hand found it a little shaky, but others may like it. It had a little swearing and a Priest getting a little close with a woman.) Edited July 4, 2011 by JoyfulLife
ContemporaryCaflicCrusader Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I am Number 4 is really good. It has been a while since my Mom Dad and I all agreed on a movie to enjoy together, let alone agreed on a movie and there was mutual enjoyment for everyone. Seriously its been months if not years, so that was real good, ps. I'm going from Lurker to PM Newbie!!!!!
Seven77 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011
This is an oldie and Danish, but I really really enjoyed "Babette's Feast." It's subtitled, but has a wonderful message about service. Babette is a Catholic Frenchwoman fleeing persecution, and ends up cooking and keeping house for two elderly sisters. The sisters are keeping up a congregation of very strict, austere Protestants founded by their father. But they eventually let Babette prepare a meal celebrating their father's would-be 100th birthday, and everyone's pretty surprised.
Great movie... very Catholic. Far better take on enjoying food compared to Julie and Julia.
Seven77 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 True Grit (good but not great) Green Lantern (kinda lame but not as bad as i expected... btw, 3d smells of elderberries imho) Ip Man 2 (substantial kung-fu flick--on netflix instant) Despicable Me (very good meaningful family movie--i really enjoyed it)
DemonSlayer Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) I haven't watched Ip Man 2 yet, but the first one was amesome, much better than Jet Li's overrated film Fearless. Edited July 9, 2011 by DemonSlayer

Seven77 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 The King's Speech: A. I was expecting a very dry, boring film but it's actually anything but that. I thoroughly enjoyed it… now I know why it won at the Oscars. Great photography.

Not A Mallard Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) The Dark Knight the best superhero movie ever, unless The Dark Knight Rises can surpass it Edited July 18, 2011 by Not A Mallard
TeresaBenedicta Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 True Grit Loved it! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt II
I thought it was great, although not excellent. Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman provided wonderful performances. I was thoroughly disappointed with the final final battle between Harry and Voldemort. Let's jump off a cliff, fly around Hogwarts, fight in an empty courtyard, and die by crumbling into pieces like Prof. Quirrell. Seriously? It should've happened in the Great Hall, or at least everyone should've been outside for the duel. Where was the dialogue between Harry and Voldemort about the power of love and sacrifice and the call to repentance? And, maybe it's just me, but I thought that the duel ought to have ended like it did in the book- Volemort uses the Killing Curse, Harry uses the Disarming Spell, and it backfires, hits Voldemort and Harry gets the Elder Wand. I was also disappointed that Fred didn't get a death scene. Or at least more footage of the family grieving.
