This is pretty random, and definitely not your typical vocations story:

Let's think of a random topic....

So.... if you could be in any community/order for a day (not "your own"), what would it be and why?

(I'll be back to answer this after some pondering. )

Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles

...strange, considering that I have no real pull to the Benedictine order, but I  their profession ceremony pictures!

That's easy. The Summit NJ Dominicans. Why? Why not they look awesome!

Plus... shallow reason alert .... I think I look good in white

I'm thinking either the Poor Clares of the Immaculate, or the Carmelites. Perhaps vee8's Carmelites if they chant all the hours. ;)

I'd definitely want to see and experience what a cloistered contemplative life is like. :detective:
They chant all the hours except on Wednesdays and Saturdays when they do the little office then spend the rest of the day crying in their cells

Sometimes they make other people cry too like when they sing the Te Deum, in Latin, during vespers. It's at times like that that the person is glad there's a grille and a curtain separating the chapel and the choir.

Hhmm. One of my good friends just wrote to them. She is really interested in joining. They are such a beautiful community!!!

As for the community I'd choose, definitely the PCPAs.
I'm clearly A Franciscan at heart, I love love LOVE the charism of perpetual adoration (clearly, interceding for the needs of the world in Eucharistic adoration is so... AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!!) and Mother Angelica was absolutely amazing.
But just for a day, I realize that the cloister isn't for me. The silence would do me good though. :D

edited for a reason why.

Oh! I think I know!

I think I'd go with that cloistered community of Carmelites in Nebraska (they also just opened another convent in Pennsylvania) who celebrate the TLM and chant the Divine Office in Latin.

So it appears we'd all like to go to the cloister... for a day (well, except for vee8... she'll stay locked up in her cell, busy procuring gallons of holy tears to get the rest of us into heaven ;) ).

I find this rather interesting.

Are we all closet-contemplatives?

:hehe:

I think I would go to the Poor Clares of the Immaculate Conception, just south of Chicago. I used to live near there and would do my Holy Hours there. Every time I went I would dream of joining their order and spending all of my hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I knew it wasn't what I was called to, but on crazy days the peace and solitude is so tempting!
