Ya know, LC, God has a sense of humor. The community I thought would be the one that I'd find my home in is not the community I saw today. It was the one that I had told that I probably wouldn't go to this year. The VD emailed me out of the blue yesterday and it just felt like a sign. So now, I have to muster up the courage to tell the VD that I HAVE to go to a "Come and See" soon! LOL! :hehe:

I felt the call again today. I was in Church singing "the Summons" and the verses resonated deep within my soul. At the same time time, I also saw in my mind one of the communities that I've been in contact with and so I'm wondering if it is God telling me to further in discernment with them. I asked Him to give me the courage to do so, and I plan to do their next "come and see" in October. :)

Even though I've never met or seen MaterMiseracordiae, she strikes me as someone who would benefit in holiness from a life lived in a white habit.

A few months ago I came across a photo slideshow of a day in the life of a Poor Clare monastery and that is where I saw how they stand to eat. As I was searching to see if I could find that same pic I came across this pic which amuses me. I call it random Therese <_<

Sorry! Nope. Not Carmel. As much as I admire the Carmelite spirituality, a Dominican I shall always be. The Dominican spirituality fits me like a glove and I can't imagine living another charism anymore. I thought the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal would be my home, but after learning about them, I knew there was another charism and another home for me. I've yet to find THE order, but I know it will be Dominican. I have such a sense of peace when I read about St. Dominic and all the Dominican saints.

She's even infiltrated the Poor Clares.

Who's next... maybe she'll go after the Jesuits.

According to my dictionary, the "s" in brussels is silent. So, you've bee saying it correctly. And, I realized that I say "brussels sprouts" with a silent "s," too.

For a second there I thought you meant the s letters in the middle, and i was like huh

I know! I don't think I'm meant to be a schoolteacher either, but that clip has me tied up in knots and choked up!

I don't know if I've mentioned it, but whenever I think of the white habit of the Dominicans, I think of lilies, which is neat because the Dominicans are a virginal order and purity is represented, very highly, I believe.

This bolded bit makes me think of the painting of "The Temptation of St. Thomas Aquinas" by Velasquez:

Here's a little snippet about this incident:
St. Thomas wanted to be a Dominican, but his father, who was a noble from southern Italy, opposed his decision. He ordered his son to be imprisoned in a tower to see if isolating the youth from everyone would make him leave aside his vocation. Instead of abandoning it, he took advantage of the solitude to pray and study.

Seeing this, his father did another bad thing. He arranged for a public woman to visit St. Thomas to invite him to sin against purity. It was a chilly day, and a fire was burning in the fireplace of the room where St. Thomas was locked. When the woman approached to tempt him, he took a stick of burning wood from the fire and threatened to burn the woman should she come any closer. She fled in panic.

Having thus conquered the temptation of impurity, he received the visit of an Angel who rewarded him with a kind of mystical girdle, that is, an invisible protection against the temptations of impurity. So this great angel, St. Thomas of Aquinas, was free of the temptations of the flesh that could disturb the progress of his mind or damage his studies and the great work he did for the Catholic Church.
