Whoa, whoa, whoa. We are all avoiding the MAJOR issue at hand in this thread.

Nada, Zayn was by far the weakest member of One Direction. He was way overvalued and sang far too often, much of the time at the expense of not letting the others sing nearly as much as he did. If Niall left? Yeah, I'd be pretty depressed, but this is just Zayn we're talking about here. One Direction will go on just fine without him until someone else inevitably leaves.

I have to disagree here. Zayn had a strong voices what other had not, especially when they began to sing. Now, they are a little better, but still, Zayn have the best voice. Niall is good, yes. Louis and Harry really don't know how to sing. One Direction without Zayn is no longer One Direction. I mean, can you imagine Night Changes without Zayn ?

(also, thank you for posting about the Duggars, I did not know them but I'm looking, and wow, this family is amazing)

Nada--There are a number of very disturbing stories that have surfaced in the last day about the Duggars. While some of the stories may be exaggerated, most are based on a 1996 police report that has been published in full online. Some names have been deleted from the police report to protect minors, but the Duggar parents are quoted in the police report. Josh Duggar (the oldest son) has admitted wrongdoing, and resigned from his post as executive director of an Evangelical Christian pro-life lobbying organization. There will be no legal prosecution because the alleged acts were committed when Josh was a minor, and the statute of limitations has passed.

The Duggars DO indeed need our prayers and are going through a very rough time. Unfortunately, many people have put the Duggars on a pedestal as perfect, and that is always a mistake.

I have read one article, and they said that the father take the son to the police, wich seems honest for me. He resigned from his post. Of course, this is horrible, and I will be praying for all of them. I am researching and reading. As a former victim of sexual abuse, I am all for the truth on this, but, when I volunteered to help victims of sexual abuse, I heard stories about family telling to their 14 years old son who have commit rape that he have done nothing important and he did not need to feel guilt and this kind of things. So, taking your abuser son to the police, is a good step for me. Then, there's the question of the responsability of the TV - do they know ? this is more complicated. I hope this can be used to put a light on abuse of minors.

To be more clear, what amaze me, is the idea of a TV reality show about a 19 children family on the TV during a long time. I think it send a strong pro-life message, the message that kids are a positive things. Last time there was a reportage on big family on the TV here. There was a 9 kids family, a 7 kids family, and a 4 kids family. I mean - there is no perfect number of kids, but I come from a 4 children family, and I think that when you are to the point to think that 4 is big and "maybe too much" (according to the presentator), your society have gone too far in the unacceptance of children. I think that a society who is able to have a TV show about a 19 children family, is a society in wich you can hope for.

Night Changes would be much better without Zayn's voice, in my opinion. But One Direction is not the hill I want to die on, so we'll just have to let this one go. ;)

They are a very amazing family. I've been watching them for years, and I am very impressed with them. This whole situation is very sad, and unfortunately people are all too happy that they finally have some dirt on the Duggars.

Nada--First off, the police report is from 2006, not 1996. Sorry about that.

As you continue to read, the story is very complicated. Yes, the father reported his son to the police, but waited a year to do so. Also, the police officer to whom the father reported did not submit a report to police officials. (This police officer is now in jail on child pornography charges, completely unrelated to this.) From what I have read, the case could have been handled better.

As FP posted, some people are happy to finally have "dirt" on the Duggars. I also see a lot of people feeling very disappointed with both the Duggars and the TV network their reality show is broadcast on, because they feel that the Duggars have presented themselves, and have been presented by the network, as "perfect," when they are not.

The whole situation is very complicated and sad.

Phuture Priest, I emailed you.

Ignatius : ... :( Sad story. Sad because of the child molestation case, sad because it will be used to make generalization about christian big families.

The thing is, these things happened so long ago and were already handled so there really is no reason to dig this up. The only purpose of it was to make the Duggars look bad, which is very low on behalf of whoever did it. Could it have been handled better? Possibly, but very few people know what to do in these situations, and they handled it to the best of their ability. And, as you said, Josh went himself to confess these things at a police station, and whether that officer decided to report it or not is on the officer, not Josh or the family. They made sure that everyone received counseling, and made Josh leave for three months so everyone could have some time to sort everything out and begin to feel comfortable again.

1) It's a sign of respect to kiss his ring, and it is a tradition. The absence of many people doing it does not mean that you shouldn't.

2) I'm a guy and I set out to make friends. Making friends is not an exclusive thing for girls. I'd imagine the reason you don't set out to make friends has to do more with being a probable introvert than being a guy.

Thumbs up for first comment.

You make very good points, FP.

On the other hand, child molestation is a very emotional subject, and something to be taken very seriously, especially since it appears that some of Josh's sisters were among those molested. I had a problem with the father calling it a "mistake." Even if Josh was a minor, it was more than a "mistake." If my brother molested me, it would take me more than three months to feel comfortable. However, all the alleged victims have forgiven Josh, which must have been difficult, but a very Christian thing to do, for which I respect them.

I am trying to stay as neutral as possible, because I don't know all the facts, but it's tough.

I think that one of the reasons for digging up this story now (it apparently is not a new story--although the availability of the actual police report IS new) is the upcoming election. Josh, until his resignation, was a lobbyist who has been photographed with several well-known candidates. Unfortunately, I see both sides in the upcoming election doing their best to dig up dirt on the other side, a campaign tactic I hate--whichever side does it.

However, it may not be the election at all and InTouch magazine was simply trying to increase their circulation by requesting the police report under the Freedom of Information Act.

She doesn't live in the United States, I think she was just using that as an example.

Wait wait wait. Is it a doctrine that Mary is co-redemptrix? Basilisa says no, Dust says yes? I really hope it's no... I always thought that was private revelation-y, like the people who own statues that bleed tears and pictures of Our Lady in grilled cheese sandwiches??

No, dust is a man who lives in the United States.

I was responding to your original question asking Oremus if she lived in Oregon. Oremus (who is a girl) lives outside the United States so therefore she doesn't live in Oregon. (at least I'm pretty sure.)
