Application Process

Those applying for religious life usually are required to get: -eye exam -dental exam -physical exam -psychological exam My question is, is there a way to get these without going broke? Is it common for doctors to give free exams to ladies entering convents? Or should the applicant just start saving up and pay for the full cost of all the exams and not pester them for free stuff?

Any Ideas?

Next Wednesday I'm visiting the convent for evening prayer and dinner. Super, super excited! I think it would be nice to take something to share with/give to the Sisters, especially since each time I've come to see them they've helped me out with transport, but I'm not entirely sure what would be appropriate. The only idea I have runs along the lines of something edible... :) What do you think? Any good ideas? My mum suggested chocolate, but I'm not entirely sure. As far as I know, there are seven or eight sisters in the community I'm visiting, so I'd like to get something substantial they can all enjoy.

THE TERESIAN CONSTITUTIONS In beginning this small essay on the Constitutions of Saint Teresa, our Mother, two memories spontaneously spring to mind: firstly that of her death, then that of the Chapter of Alcalá, celebrated the previous year in March 1581. For Discalced Carmelite Nuns this signifies, above all, the promulgation and publishing of the Teresian Constitutions. Among the words spoken by the Saint on her death-bed, three things stand out, distilling the prevailing mood of Mother Teresa already prepared to celebrate her final Passover. They are "Christ the Bridegroom", "Mother Church", and the "sinner" needing salvation, Ter…

I was curious to know if anyone was friends with this community? I have a friend who is a novice there and I am wanting to know how she's doing. They don't update their website anymore, unfortunately. :(
