I've been accepted and will be entering the Apostolic Sisters of St John this fall. The question now is where: I've been studying with the community in France for two years, have discerned here and have been preparing to enter here, but now it's possible that I'll enter in the new house of formation in the US. It would only be for one year and then I'd be sent back here to France to continue formation. I'm very stressed about it, and I'll avoid discussing the details here, but I'll meet with the prior general this weekend and it will be settled one way or another. Nothing like mixing pleasure with pain. This weekend is Petencost weekend, which is the single most m…

Who's Planning The Rest Of Your Life?

Who's Planning the Rest of Your Life By Sr. Cheryl Galema, Novice If you are in the process of making an important decision in your life, rest assured that I am praying for you. The past few years have helped me realize that discernment is not an easy task. It takes practice. Daily practice. Maybe you have been presented with an opportunity: a possible promotion or you've noticed a house closer to where you work is on the market. Maybe you have two excellent opportunities to choose from. Whatever it is you are discerning, it could alter your life maybe for a short period of time or some years or maybe forever. And if we're talking about forever, then you want to cho…

Hi all, Happy Palm Sunday! I received my paperwork from MEFV yesterday and I am still incredibly awed and amazed at the wonderful miracle that will enable me to enter. I have spoken to Mother, SrMC and SrMJ and the date that works best for my entrance is May 31st. I really wanted to enter on the feast of St. Joseph but the Lord's timing is one that I must trust so I am excitedly looking forward to May 31st. In two months and 7 days, I will become a postulant with the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church and I am super excited. I absolutely cannot wait. :yahoo: :nun2:  68 days!!! :bounce: :nun2: :w00t:

So, I've been there a couple of times lately, just because it happens to be nearby. I was wondering if any of you knew anything about it? Their daily Masses are... interesting. They took (and I have only been there for a daily Mass once) the Psalms from Morning Prayer, then the Liturgy of the Word (skipping the introductory stuff to the Mass, including the penitential act), the Liturgy of the Eucharist, then the canticle from Morning Prayer, then ended with the normal end to Mass. I mean, this is probably better than other abuses that I've seen, but it's still annoying and (I think) liturgical abuse. Does anyone else know more about them?

Hello From The Isle Of Wight

Dear all, Though I'm still on retreat until tomorrow at a monastery here on the south coast of England, I thought I'd take advantage of a little phone signal to say hello and to say that I've been praying for all those discerning a vocation to the religious life, both here and when I went to Mass at the nearby convent this morning. I don't want to leave! Coincidentally, when I arrived a few days ago another guest was an old friend from university whom I hadn't seen in two years. All in all, a lovely trip, but very thought provoking...
